Can understand.

Had difficulty choosing the schools I want too.
All the schools in central area very popular.

Hopefully the balloting for >2km isn't too aggressive. Then I heng heng got chance.
We are planning to move into the area, but needs to see which school he goes into first before strategising.
Can try St Magaret Primary & Standford Primary maybe where is not so popular.

School Vacancies by Phases — Phase 1 (as at 18 June 2009)

            http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/

Guess some of the school should be already taken up 50% after Phase 1.
Heard Phase 1 don't have to go down physically for registration. The schools just get the existing siblings to return back the form.

anyone still have the statistic of schools being taken up 50% at phase 1 ?

Bt Panjang Pri, Greenridge, Yew Tee, Nan Hua, Hougang, Tao Nan, White Sands, Mee Toh, Canberra, Compassvale, Rivervale, Chongzheng, St Hilda, Greenwood, Woodgrove and Jiemin.

Though there are a lot very close to 50% which I didnt list.

                  Hi!

I think you have this impression that all schools in central area are very popular because there are not that many schools in this area in the first place?

Just realised that the total no. of vacancies this year has dropped drastically from 46,740 last year to 41,670 this year. Almost all the areas are affected, except for the 8 schools in Toa Payoh which still keep the same no. of vacancies as last year.

Correction on my part: Think it's more like overdemand and undersupply in good schools that are in this area.

At least it happened to the schools that I would have chosen as my first choice.

Wa! That's either a reflection of declining birth rate or they are trying to distribute the students more evenly by forcing parents to register into the less popular schools.

2003's birthrate was 37,485 compared to 2002's 40,760. Actually they didnt reduce the number from most of the more popular schools, except for a few.
