E3:
Instead, train them AFTER P3, like offering the Thinkers Today, Leaders Tomorrow programme, so that on one hand, you develop many excellent students for PSLE, on the other hand, you keep the brains.
Ya the TTLT is a very good programme. Not too sure if they offer it only to the top class.... -
Happy Mama:
They offer to those who were not successful after the second GEP Screening tests but had still done well, and probably to those who were selected but decided to stay put. So, you need to at least get your dd to pass her first screening test. Oh... and if some of the transferred out, and you dd gets into the best class next year, likelihood is she'll be offered. Actually, your dd may be one of those selected for GEP so whatever I said above is just for your info only.E3:

I understand that only a handful of P3 passes the GEP-2nd screening every year. Anyone know roughly what's the % of students who passes 1st-GEP test and the 2nd-GEP test? -
Thanks Janet, so nice of you to consider my welfare. Yup, I am now busy compiling theory notes for each individual question for my dd's theory exam. ..
Hi E3,
May I know how do you 'compile theory notes ...' for the theory exam? You mean there are some '10-years series' for the theory exam questions?
Haha, KS not just for academics, but for performing arts too
Kids nowadays are so lucky, everything is sort of prepared and served on the silver platter for them .. or are we parents the guilty ones? That's why MM Lee said kids with gd academic results ( = studying in gd schs) have advantages becoz the parents are equally, if not better qualified! -

All Singaporean P3 are offered to go for the selection test. However, parents can choose to opt out if they want. Most will just go for the tes, you never know ... maybe can jackpot

Oh, she does a lot of past year theory papers for every theory grade after she was done with the activity book. So, what I did was to run thru each question in each set in each year and tabulate the tips and key reminders for each question according how her teacher had taught her. I am still in the midst of updating cos she has not started on the 2010 papers, only completed 2006 - 2008 and completing 2009. She will study my summarized notes before completing a couple of sets in the 2010 to confirm she is 100% clear, then get ready for the real thing in March.

It's a fact. During the Parent-Teacher meeting last year, the teacher looked at my hubby when she explained to him that models should be used instead of algebra.
actually i think if child can understand algebra, why we localize on the method of models... why not jump out of its limits?!
I got to know a friend, when her p5 ds was taking part in the Olympic Math Contest, told to me, her ds would like to work out the math problem in algebra, that would be easier and faster. and when her child was in the p2 childcare center, the center teacher tried to let him to do p6's math, but he did it very well! naturally enough, he got GEP... -
