My dd's conclusion, poor monitors suffered cos no relief teacher was there during SS teacher's absence and her classmate would have wasted money buying a new book since the teacher was absent. The one most at fault is the teacher who did not have a relief.

She didn't know the procedure of who is in-charge of allocating relief but I am appalled that no teacher was in class for a full 30 mins. Anything can happen without proper adult supervision.

Perhaps school think that SS is not an impt subject, hence this happen. I think the administration dept in PHPPS is not very strong and proactive.

Normally SS T is Also the EL T ....
So Quite Often SS is Side-Lined, and Turn Into EL Lessons Instead ....
So At the End Of Each School Year, SS is Always Among the \"Un-Touched\" Book - Spanking New!
Others R the Arts and Music Book ....

However, This Year My Gal's Class Got the \"FORTUNE\" to have Another T Taking Them SS ....
      And ....
      Come Back With HW!!!!

As If their P6 HW is Not Enough ....

      SO My Gal Rebut Me Firm-ly, \"It's A MISFORTUNE!\"
      Ha Ha ....

A little episode from my dd:

First thing my dd told me when she came back was that there was no teacher in class during Social Studies lesson. I asked whether her class went havoc during that period. Her exact words, \"Havoc 是没有,可是 class monitors 站到脚酸就有, and I finished reading my Amos Lee.\"

One of her classmates forgot to bring her SS book and borrowed money from my dd, intending to buy a new book. SS teacher only gave them one chance. In the end, she managed to find another friend from another class to lend her the book.

My dd's conclusion, poor monitors suffered cos no relief teacher was there during SS teacher's absence and her classmate would have wasted money buying a new book since the teacher was absent. The one most at fault is the teacher who did not have a relief.

 In this scenario, reading or doing own hw, is wiser... anw, it is better to let their FT know it, and prevent such problem happend again.

...but we will miss her very soon come next year when her DD gets out of PH (her DD is confirmed a GEPper!) 😉 😉

Not true. Nothing is confirmed yet. Why do you want to chase me out? 😢 Just kidding...😉 She'll most likely still go for the 1st screening test and God-willing, go for the second. Decision comes after that. If I am the P, I will not train my students too intensively from P1 - P3, specifically for GEP. Instead, train them AFTER P3, like offering the Thinkers Today, Leaders Tomorrow programme, so that on one hand, you develop many excellent students for PSLE, on the other hand, you keep the brains. One year makes a big difference in terms of maturity. My thinking is a little warped, I know, that's why I will probably make a lousy P. Just my humble opinions. 😉 😉

Hello everyone, I am back and wow! the page is now 6xx plus really many active moms & dads here.To add on to what E3 has just shared. Personally I feel that P did not really 'train' PHPPS for GEP. If she did, I believed more students would be selected. I found out that NYPS starts so called 'GEP' training in P3. Some selected P3 students are put into 'GEP' prog & the class size is keep small about 25 unlike PHPPS expand to 40+ for top classes., so you see, they can achieve to have 50 selected gep stds. For math, you have to expose your kid to different types of Math like IQ, OLP math, ICAS papers topics besides the mainstream topics before she sit for the GEP screening test else your kid will be at a disadvantage and might be demoralised. Anyway, a happy chinese new year to everyone and I am surely glad that I don't have to send my DD to school for those few days. (the horrible traffic jam every morning to NYPS is really a very stressful one! up to till now, still trying out different route)[/quote]Hi comfy, welcome back....find your post very informative...sorry, i am very blur... what is OLP math?

and remember to visit us more often ma...., we are eagerly waiting to learn from you.....thanks....
