      Funz:
DD is in P2 now. And I realise this, I cannot be in the same room as her when she is doing her work. When I am around, it will be mummy, how to spell this or that and what is the meaning of this or that. But when I am not present, she can spell most of the words and will pull out her dictionary to find the meanings of some of the tougher words.

My son in P5 has the habit of asking me for meanings of words too...I asked him to check the electronic dictionary and write down the meaning of the word...this benefitted him a great deal last year when he was doing Vocab exercises.

        Tinkerbelle:

Guess for lower pri, the kids tend to be reliant on their \"walking dictionaries\". More convenient..keke. DD2 also likes to ask me difficult words. She finds it hard to look up the dictionary. Dunno about your sch but DD's sch does teach dictionary skills later in P3.

Every week, I'll get DD to write down 5 difficult words and the meanings in her own pretty notebook, which is like her own mini dictionary. I'll go thru the words and recap on the words with her on/off. I find that she remembers them better than if I just told her the meaning one off. Of course, I need to help her find the words in the dictionary. 😉
You are a nice teacher mummy. :ugogirl: for my case yes I am good at making her write. thats only for somedays, if I am busy or doing something then no... and NO recap at all... I think I must do that...
        Thanks for the wonderful ideas...

I got the Besta 668...hesitated for few weeks before agreeing to it.
So far, I use the Chinese and English dictionary features...not very sure about others. Told my son to make full use of it...sometimes if he doesn't know how the character is pronounced, he will write it on the screen and the electronic dict will then tell you what it is.

Since it's eve of CNY, let's not walk into Popular to give ourselves a BREAK from books...bcos I'm expecting a tsunami of homework to come in from next Monday onwards.

Times Bookshop ? How much ?
I have Study Helpers too...bought from Popular last year.

Son's homework really flooding in...not all 4 subjects but 2 or 3 subjects with many questions which require time to think.

Thinking Skills to better your english is an old book printed in 2007, knowledge based one. I got the P2 book.

speaking of son ..how is he now? My dd has started the model drawing at school. the teacher gave her only simple , straight Qs to practice drawing..so she came and told me with a big 😄 \"ITs very easy\" .
