For the sake of clarification, how would you differentiate between active & inactive alumni members?

There are of course some real practical issues that will need to be sorted, but is the better alternative to just give up and stick with status quo? I am making some suggestions at this time which go part way to meet the bona-fide alumni contributors (cited here as a reason to keep 2A in place) and provide greater access to those who are not in place of non-active. Its a start, no?

See also my other post on 'inheritance'......not a God given right.

Actually, I understand that for some churches, they only issue the letter to those active members - I take it to mean those that often turn up for service or who are actively serving in various ministries. Also for SHHk (at least), bonus points are given to members who help out in their activities.

It's not impossible to set a measurement standard. Though again, that may be prone to abuse (eg if a certain alumni officebearer unfairly give precedence to his kaki from school even though that fella wasn't active - disclaimer: this is pure fantasy).

          Ok with Phase 1.

Restrict 2A1 and 2A2 to ACTIVE alumni and siblings who are ex-students (maybe ok) . But not alumni all-comers.
2A2 includes children of staff too šŸ˜„

If my parents hadn't the foresight to register me in CHIJ back then, my daughter wouldn't have been able to enjoy the privilege now.

Phase 1 - Guaranteed and should go on.
            Phase 2A1 - Alumni members
Phase 2A2 - Parents/siblings who have studied in the school as well as children of staff.

But you have to say in order for those of us (think we're labelled as the pro status quo camp) to even consider supporting any change in policy, it will be logical for us to want to understand beforehand what are the practical implications on the ground. Reasonable request, no?

Or those who are able to donate some sum of money?

Eventually, it boils down to someone in the school making that determination.

Just thinking aloud, may not be a correct comparison, but how transparent is the letter from SHHK - as in, who gets and who doesn't get?

                  Isn't this worse?

Giving money to the school is akin to buying a space (giving to the principal is BRIBERY!) - again, the richest will win; just like proximity; those who can afford will always pay their way through the system if this is allowed (although unofficially, we all know that this happens)
