Hi verykiasu2010 - suppose yours have to stay North, West and East liao. Poor kids stay away from each other only weekends can meet hahaha

no need la, stay somewhere central will do, all in the household. VS and DHS are quite near the central, or at least convenient transport wise

Why put 4 in different schools ? Just put all 4 in one school lah. If staying in the North, then RI...HCI if staying in Clementi/Jurong.

those girls who can enter NYGH with COP > 260 – their Chinese must be very strong and powerful ! since majority coming from 15 SAP primary schools spread out all over SG, while others come from good neighbourhood schools

heard that a huge influx of foreign students from China prefer to choose - NYGH as their first choice. Good! There is healthy competition and socialization networking between fellow Singaporeans students and China foreign students, at secondary school level, in NYGH !

i suppose the same thing also happening at Dunman High, HCI as well!
ie. a lot of China boys in these two schools.

entering NYGH with >260 does not necessarily mean very powderful Chinese lang, they are just all-rounder, good at all subjects; and

please don't call it a huge influx...it may be at most 30 students out of 480 (450+30). please don't create unnecessary alarm

many of dd's classmates/school mates were malaysians and indonesians. wonder why i never think of them as foreigners. but if someone says she is from china, \"foreign student\" immediately come to mind.

Appreciate some advice on SAP schools.

I understand SAP schools are teaching all students \"Higher\" Chinese from P1. On the other hand, non SAP schools students have the option to choose \"Higher\" or \"Normal\" Chinese? :? (Do the students or the teachers decide if this is the case? :lol: )

What is the different when it comes to PSLE? Is there any differentiation for students taking \"Higher\" Chinese at PSLE as oppose to \"Normal\" Chinese?

Hi dorisp,

Higher Chinese (HCL) is compulsory from P1 for ALL SAP schools.
However, at P5 the student can drop HCL for normal Chinese if grades do not qualify them to continue with HCL. However, some parents do insist their kids continue with HCL at P5 even when their kids’ P4 HCL results are not very good.

Students will have to take HCL paper as well as CL paper at P5/6.
Supposing students do very well at P6 for HCL, they can get between 1-3 marks extra and attend Secondary schools which offer HCL.

What about non SAP schools? For P1 students of non SAP schools, do they take HCL or CL? If there is a HCL or CL choice for non SAP schools, who decides? the student, parent or teachers? :?
