Trapwithin:
Just now during lunchtime I quick-hand-quick-leg went to Bras Basah Popular to take a look at Horrible Science but came out empty handed (which has got to be rare). Two reasons that made me not buy it:
Popular IMM has Horrible Sci. You can bring ds there to try reading it before deciding whether to buy
- the level of comprehension required to read the book is beyond ds's current level.
- the pics are gruesome, not sure if ds will have nightmares after reading them.
Incidentally, I also saw Horrible History & Geography there too. -
Mrsbongz:
Mrsbongz you have a great sense of humour  .
LOL. I think it's Popular that is very blessed lo.. all of us are spending so much $$ at their outlets!!
Mrsbongz:
Like what Funx3 says, at least he sits down and listens to you. It's a good start and will only get better along the way.his idea of quiet time is to sit quietly while Mommy reads!! :x

Better than me. I never even remembered in the first place
I would even forget to do my homework. :oops:janet_lee88:
I can forgo sleep if I buy Women's Weekly to read. I love to read. Don't know why my kids don't like to read. In the past, I will speed through my homework if I have a storybook to read.

I was also at Popular this afternoon while waiting for DD, and flipped through Horrible Science... and yes pics are so gruesome. This is the 3rd time I'm browsing through Horrible Science without purchasing it, eventhough I have heard so much about it... somehow, I didn't quite like the book... not sure if DD likes it, coz there were a few books lying at my parents' place and she has never picked them up to read.

So maybe I should reconsider my decision to buy Horrible Science and invest in Anthony Horrowitz's books instead.

Not sure whether this lady phpssmss is related to our own php or not, but she wrote a short and punchy article on creative writing on the other thread here => http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15606
Her style is a bit different from that of TAS but I can imagine them as being complementary to each other. Not sure whether all of us read it or not but just in case we didn't, so I posted this. I mean got good things must share mah.
She only made 7 posts and I personally think that the above post is excellent. This one ROI very high. -

Jtoh, any particular reason why she loves it? I'm trying to influence my DD to like the book and also to convince myself to like the book (though I know it is a good book), but to no avail. -
