On another note, what good does RA do at Year 3 and Year 4? Is it considered bonus? Does it make admission to JC easier? Will it also be carried forward to JC?

and No. none of the points or the grades will be carried up to JC. for IP students like us, the grades and points are \"just for show\", it looks nicer on the end of year report for Sec4.

In RP, we'll receive a Raffles Diploma, that covers all aspects of a student's journey in RJC. academics, aesthetics, CCA, etc. Everyone will get this thing by the end of J2, provided you meet the minimum requirements (which is really really easy to meet). Your child will learn more about this when she comes to RJC, it's far too complicated for me to explain

it depends on what CCA you are from.

If you in a sports CCA, the chances are you can \"direct admission\" into the JC counterpart, provided that they have the cca, eg, basketball, shooting etc.

some performing arts have a similar system too, eg, Chinese Orchestra.

if you dont want to cont the cca, you can always go for trials/auditions/interviews for other cca

CCAs that RJC dont have, means you'll definitely have to go for trials all over again in JC, eg, uniform groups.

i asked my friend who's in RA haha, cos im not

its a really good exposure. cos the ra curriculum is accelerated and you'll cover much more stuff that is not done in the normal syllabus.
there are also like additional tests and projects, which ensures that the material is understood. also the pracs and research that you do are like really in depth.

generally better discussion and more depth is covered.

it doesnt like help in adding points or stuff like that but the content that you cover for ra really helps, as in cos its all stuff at jc or even higher level, so content wise you're better off!

it has nothing to do with the admission to JC, afterall no matter what, as long as you dont screw up your sec4 year, you'll go up.

It doesnt continue in JC, you'll have to take placement tests all over again to see if you'll qualify for RA in JC. but it should be pretty fine cos they mostly test what is possibly taught in RGS.

My DD was recently transferred to RA Maths. She really wanted RA Physics but was advised against it, since she already had RA Maths.

There was also this thing about Integrated Programme Selection Test. Heard anything about it? Apparently it has something to do with Edusave Scholarship. I wonder how much it will take before we know the results of the test.

Shanghaied, when you say that your dd was recently transferred to RA Math, do you mean that your dd was originally given RA Physics and was later asked to consider RA Math instead, or that your dd was only offered RA Math? If you prefer, you can PM me your reply.

Eventually she was offered RA Math (so she had to be transferred to a RA Math class). She wanted RA Physics, too, but was dissuaded from it. Dunno if it might be possible in Year 4.

One other thing, I was curious why the school never offered RA Chinese to her, seeing that my DD spent 8 years in China, and in a local school no less. But that's not something my DD truly wanted, so we did not bother pursuing it.

Thanks for replying. I didn't have the impression you were showing off, just in case you were wondering.

Is your dd new to RGS? I believe the girls who were interested were asked to indicate their RA interests and take tests (provided they meet the requirements) when they were in Yr 2. Maybe your dd missed those tests if she only joined RGS this year and that's why she wasn't offered RA initially.

How does your dd find RA Math?

No, I didn't mean you, of course.

My DD only joined RGS this year via the SPERS-SEC route. She didn't find the RA Math test any more challenging than any exams she had taken before. The only time she got stumped was when she tried the Math Society trial. We were not sure if it was good thing for her to be able to answer 5 out of 10 questions.

That was also why we did not know anything about IPST, until the day before the test at ACS(I).
