Preparing kids for P5 in 2011

pixiedust:
Hi pixiedustBrenda, I find the A* booklets quite tough.
May I know if your dd started on them in P5 ? which term ? I understand some of the topics are covered in P6 so those can wait. It is just for my general planning as my friends told me there is no time to complete if wait till P6.
We started gradually after the school has completed the three main topics of fraction, ratio and percentage. I find all these questions are interlinked and at time the child has to convert percentage to fraction or ratio and may be fraction to ratio or vs. The P6 topcis like speed and circle etc we can do it later.
Your friendโs comments is quite true like now we also have very time left once the supplementary class and enrichment class has taken away 4 days a week. -
Brenda10:
That means end of P5 ??
Hi Janetjanet_lee88:
21 school papers ? When do you start your daughter on that ?
During the school holiday last year.
Wow :!: -

I think \"NickleBee Tutors\" comment that foundation must be strong before moving to the A*booklets is very wise.
Your inforamtion is correct.
Just want to look through first. Will not want to overwhelm DD when she's not ready

Hi Brenda,
I am learning to breathe normally with the amt of homework coming in, but how did you start P6 at the beginning of the year ? Did you teach your gal P6 stuff at the end of last year ? -

In fact, they had learnt most of the things in P5. Eg. For maths, most of the topics already covered during P5 except just a few new topics like algebra, speed and circle etc. As for CL, the teacher had also started throwing them the full set of papers for practice without event complete the Text book -

CL tutor told me what you mentioned...at the end of P5, they are almost ready for P6. Even for the CA1 Maths paper 1, the duration is 50 min and my son told me his teacher told class to time themselves using timer...each question only 2 minutes and move on. -

Hi Janet
Is true. This weekend DD have three set of ็่งฃ้ฎ้ข to attempt and there are a few questions that unable to find the answer from the passage and I have to refer other books or test papers for ็ตๆ so as to help her answer with the appropriate words.
As for maths, speed and accuracy are very important. For Section A and B, have to try to complete in less than 30 - 35 minutes time so as to have sufficient time to verify. -

:!: I definitely believe you 101%.
Son had to find ci2 yu3 from passage in his CL activity book...I read that passage 3x and still couldn't find the answer. :frustrated: So diff from P4 whereby at least there will be a character which can be used as 'keyword'.
This is so silly :stupid: bcos there is no indication where the answer can be found...for eg which paragraph. -

Because of these 3 sets of ็่งฃ้ฎ้ข I have to postpone some activity on Sunday. BTW, I have a Pm for you.
