Strictly maid are not suppose to carry HP, they would defintely neglect the safety of the children (Eg crossing the road & the safety of the children is affected). In additon, this would also the output performance of her work.

For our case, the hp is in our possession. Maid would report to get from us after finish all the work at the end of the day.

We would provide toiltries to maid unless the maid required certain brand. (Eg shampoo) in which they have to pay herself. If the price does not differ much then we would cater to her prefered brand.

Internal beauty like tampons, bra & underwear we do not provide.

How do you get the phone back from the maid when it's work time again?

for me, i wont allow handphone for my maid. anyway, she does not have off day and she does not have friends here to call. and she knows if she wants to call, she needs to pay for it e.g call home. Thus no request for it.

my thought is don’t allow handphone to maid. i see many maids of my girl’s schol, carry handphone and talk none stop, they din even see when the kid fall down cos busy talking on the phone, and i ever saw one maid pulling the kid while on phone… the kid is trying to talk to her, but she ignore cos busy on the phone…

heard from a friend that her ex-maid liked to chat on the hp late into the night. Becos of the way house is laid out, the kids in the house don’t have good sleep due to the noise - these are sec school kids. Next day maid has difficulty waking up.

Explain clearly to her that while you empathise her loneliness, but once this is given, it’s very difficult to take back without spoiling relations. How about allowing her to carry her hp on weekends during the day and then you will keep it for her on Sunday night?

Also, since she want to carry the hp at all times, is it going to mean that she’s going to be on the phone much of this time? How in the world is she going to finance her usage?

If your family situation is such that she will go out during the day (either pick up kids and all), I think the loneliness bit don’t matter - there are plenty of maids to chat with. One wink, one smile and suddenly they are friends.

During my interview with my new maid (trf maid-who has finished 2 yr con) i did specify to her that we will keep her hp, and will pass it to her when we come back from work and she will pass it to us b4 she sleep. She is fine with this arrangement.

I allow such arrangement, 'cos some friends told me maid also need freedom and need someone to talk to.

my ex-maid, flutting with guys, visit toilet more often than us, day dreaming, smiling in the air.

ta bu la tahan… think buttom line, they dont give us trouble and do their jobs we shld close 1 eye

                  Throwing a question....

Anybody ever heard or tried getting Indo maids/helper without going through the agency? :?

                  yes you can

go MOM online to apply for approval-in-principle, must have the maid passport details, etc and once in SG, must comply with medical etc ...

verykiasu2010, thanks for the info. Have you done this before? Easy?

My current Indonesia is quite good. Not the vain type and no problem with housework and my kid as she is ex-Singapore. Unike you guys, I don’t have problem with her on hp issues because no hp allowed from Day 1. The only grouse is She is very religious!!! Once I allow her to pray, she actually put on the headdress and pray 5 times a day!! Sometimes, she even wakes up at 1am just to pray. The next day she wakes up at 6am to pray without fail!! That’s why I realise she always don’t have enough sleep.

I lecture her for waking up at 1am to pray because I don’t like to see a sleepy face. The neighbours might think I m keeping her at night to do housework!!! She finally agreed to cutting out the 1am praying session.
Anyone has any such praying issues with their maid? Pls share with me.

Sigh! I just realised if this maid is good in this area but bad in other area. My previous maid was bad in this area and good in other area.

IF the maid’s salary really goes up and up, I’ll probably hire part time maid to cook for me. At least she won’t need to stay with me.

                        Agree 100%! Let her go.

It;s risky since u r working. U dont know what might happen when you are away at work and your boy is in her hands.
Do the letting go with care too. ie dont give advance notice. I have been lucky with maids ie never change maid before ctract’s up and even renewed a few times with the last one. So this is according to what I hear. ie once you made your mind to let go your maid, dont tell her in advance. Just let her pack on the spot and bring her back to the agency. Dont take chances. And check the bags.
