Kids in primary and secondary schools nowadays speak Mandarin to each other. Other kids speak to their elders in Shanghainese, but my DD speaks Mandarin to her mother and English to me.

Unfortunately that means she speaks 'zero' Hokkien. C'est la vie.

life isnt that busy yet. it's on the process of getting crazy i think haha.

I dunno about the relation between SYF and mid years. The school has always been changing their system here and there, timetable, exam, and whatnot.

ps. I AM SUPER JEALOUS OF THE TIMETABLING THIS YEAR. you lucky people who get early dismissal haha!! XD

i asked my friend who's in RA haha, cos im not

its a really good exposure. cos the ra curriculum is accelerated and you'll cover much more stuff that is not done in the normal syllabus.
there are also like additional tests and projects, which ensures that the material is understood. also the pracs and research that you do are like really in depth.

generally better discussion and more depth is covered.

it doesnt like help in adding points or stuff like that but the content that you cover for ra really helps, as in cos its all stuff at jc or even higher level, so content wise you're better off!

it has nothing to do with the admission to JC, afterall no matter what, as long as you dont screw up your sec4 year, you'll go up.

It doesnt continue in JC, you'll have to take placement tests all over again to see if you'll qualify for RA in JC. but it should be pretty fine cos they mostly test what is possibly taught in RGS.

There was also this thing about Integrated Programme Selection Test. Heard anything about it? Apparently it has something to do with Edusave Scholarship. I wonder how much it will take before we know the results of the test.

Yes, I've noticed from the forum for other schools there are some really 'sharp' and meticulous parents. I actually have a relative who knew nothing about DSA, let alone sports DSA, etc. and their eldest daughter is taking PSLE this year.

So yeah, it pays to be 'informed', and thoroughly for good measure.

oh well. most importantly, just enjoy life in rgs it's alot less stupid without the guys around haha![/quote]Forgot to tell you my DD was directly transferred from Shanghai via SPERS-SEC, so we had had no prior knowledge of RA and IPST, etc. We are even playing catch up for CCA. The only things we know with any amount of certainty are that she is in RA Math and takng part in the impending AMC (12B or something like that).

Since 2009, the edusave scholarship covers only part of the school fees. ie. $2400 per annum or $200 per month. The school fees at RGS is $300 plus misc fee of another less than $50(forgot the exact amount). Therefore, scholarship holders need to fork out another $100 plus per month, in addition to some other expenses like orientation, CCA, etc. How I wish it's still at 13bucks per month....
