My kids' swimming coach told us learning to swim can start anytime once kids can understand instruction. I saw some 3 yr old kids learning to swim and it was quite scary to me, worrying about them misunderstanding instructions. If you are like me, then maybe opt for a dedicated instructor or a small size class.

According to the coach, the (average) kid's psychomotor skills (for arms-legs coordination) start developing at about 5 years old and that's the time when you can put the kid into a training regime like training for the Bronze level of the National Survival Swimming Awards. So beside the benefit of improving the kid's health, he could also learn a lifelong survival skill (early).

My son used to fall sick alot when he was 18 months as I put him in childcare. I was recommended to give him sambucol (can get from vitkids in forum gallery) to boost his immunity. I can see improvement after 2 bottles of sambucol.
