In My Gal's P5 CA1 Last Year, think the Highest was 88 Vs 100 in P4 SA2, if not mistaken. Don't think AnyOne Get 100 in Any Subject ....

To score 100 marks in MA from P1 to P4 -> Mission Possible
To score 88 marks and above in MA from P5 onwards -> Wonderful Bonus

Hi Funx3,

I got the book 'Challenging Maths Problems Made Easy' yesterday and to my horror :!: it doesn't look like English to me...more like Greek..feeling really stupid. I just don't understand why primary school is this tough now.

The other day my son was telling me they just learnt \"cross multiply\" in MA. I was like \"so early?\" becos I vividly remember I learnt it only in sec 1.

People have advanced by 3 years...

Agree with you...school syllabus has been brought forward. I don't remember learning simultaneous equations at P5...nor calculate the number of legs 4 ducks and 8 cows have at P1 !!! Hubby just told last night about the P1 Maths taught to daughter in school when he signed the worksheets.

Nobody Got Perfect Score.

And ....
They Also Throw in A Question or 2 of P6 Std, So That it is ....
MORE CHALLENGING!

After CA1, Normally EveryOne Sit Up and Pay More Attention, esp the Parents ....

With So Many Examples shown, We Forgot How to solve them in P6 Now!
And We Will Say to Each Other, \"Oh We Solve this Type of Q Before, But How we Solve it Last Time, Mummy (Or Mei Mei, That's What We Called Her at Home), Can U Remember?\"

For ds1, his reply will be :' daddy, how to do ahh... P6 MA why so difficult for what....do you really need to use it in working life ?!..'

Highest 88...wow, that's really amazing.
I hope my son doesn't fail his CA1 bcos neighbour told me her son's class flunked and the teacher wasn't very tactful about it when parents asked how it happened.
Pei Hwa is known to set tough Maths and Science papers.

When Do We Ever use Or Apply Differentiation, Integration, Sine/Cosine, etc in Normal Day-to-Day Life?

I am going to disappoint some parents here. Becos I did not do much with him other than making sure he went to bed by 9.30pm, ate-play-rest well. And nagging him to read more CL materials.

Come P5 and P6, you will find that the sch is doing a great job (borrow your previous post \"pile like nobody's biz). How can we as parents pile some more? Besides, piling does not necessarily translate to better grades. Those assessment books I bou for him during P5 and P6 are still intact. Dunno if will put to use for my younger boy :oops:

Guess the most impt thing I did was to manage my expectation and learnt to let go as early as possible. If my elder boy did not wake up on his own and become an independent worker cum learner, he might not hv done well in sch.

[/quote]Hubby told me about one calculator last night which is allowed into exam hall...not just that tangent, sine/cosine one we used...but has 4 lines. Told him I wash my hands off where Maths is concerned...but the other 3 subjects still ok.
