      sglee1970:
just one feedback since my niece is from that school... the teachers are ethusiastic but some lack drive and the principal lacks leadership...

my niece ('95) went through 5 years of primary school chinese class and her standard was like primary 2.... it was only the last year, she had this primary 6 chinese teacher who provided the ram up and she scored an A for it ...

personally i dont agree with such slack as learning is a process ... the school wasted 5 solid years of good learning grounds... according to her primary 6 chinese teacher, it appeared that the school faces such problem every year.... she had to cover all the grounds her fellow colleagues missed in the past 5 years... my question is what is the principal doing????!!!!!
      sad. that principal has retired.
the new principal is more active. hopefully things improve.

I intend to let me child go to Meridian Pri. Any idea if it’s a good school? read one of the earlier threads that the principal lacks leadership. ANyone else to comments? Was torn between Meridian and Pasir Ris Pri however Meridian is so much nearer.

My child is in P3 this year. So far, we are quite happy with the school. His form teacher (Mdm Sofia) readily answers our emails/calls, and so does the principal. The only complaint is that there are not many choices for CCA, especially for P1-P2. Beacuse his Mandarin is not too good, he was put into a class where the ratio was less than 10 kids per teacher; we are very happy about that!

One request: My son needs to get from Meridian to Upper Changi Road East after school everyday. The school bus took more than 1 hr for the short trip during the trial run a few days ago. The public buses will take just as long as he would need to changes busese.

Anyone's kid would like to share a cab with him? It costs about $6 to Changi Green where I live (next to SQ training centre, before the EXPO). Otherwise, any parents drive their own kids who'd be passing that way? I'll be glad to contribute to petrol. Message me here please or to iban71 at gmail dot com
          Cheers!

Last night, my son had to do an online survey. Unknown to us (I was helping), there must have been more than 150+ questions and had to be done in one-sitting because there was no ‘save’ function. Can the designer of the survey really justify the length of this survey??

I believe this is the first time Meridian primary School is seeking feedback from students and parents in a proper manner,

i.e. the recent forum and online survey.

Both my children are pupils are Meridian Primary,
one is in sec school and another in P6 now.

Fortunately, a number of good and dedicated teachers are still around. With a new principal, hopefully more good teachers will appear and the useless ones dissappear. 😉

My princess was previously in Meridien till P2, then change to another school in P3 cos’ we have shifted.

I think the school is really wonderful, she is always back from school talking about the compliments and kindness, not 1 but a few teachers have shown to the class. Of course, there will be reprimands, but the positive atmosphere they create for the children is really something very special.

The prinicipal, I think she’s been around for at least a few years , is very in touch with the ground, cos’ when I do parent volunteer work, I see she does a lot of walking around to feel the vibes of what’s happening very much. Not the sort that’s cooped up in the office handling only high level matters for show to the ministry. The communication within the school levels from the top rt down to the clerical level is superb. You can pose a Q and usually u can get a on the spot answer without having to be referred all over the place.

I am not sure if the Chinese lang. issue that was previously mentioned still persists but when I talk to the Chinese teachers, they are very clear of the direction that they are moving towards and from P1 syllabus, they are already creating the foundation for P6.

Well, even though my princess has left the school, I am writing in this forum cos’ the school has really left a very good impression for me and my girl. It is not a branded school, but if you take time to see and hear them out, it is a school that really cares for the children.

                Cheers

My friend’s child will be going to Meridien in 2012. She is staying in Telok Kurau. She is trying to find out if there is any school bus operator that goes to Meridien, or is there any parent out there car-pooling?

                  Thanks!!

                      Hi,

I am a P6 student in Meridian Primary this year.Heard that Meridian Primary is trying to band students( if i am not wrong, P2 to P6 nect year) according to their performance in their mathematics results this year. The top class will be A, followed by B then all the way until the last class. Thus, I think Meridian Primary want to focus on Mathematics more. So, if your child is in Meridian Primary, please focus on Mathematics more.:) Hope this helps!
