Try 田七 powder. It is supposed to 活血. A lot of my friends giving their boys that and my DS also started taking this recently.

It can be in pill form (from Eu Yan Sang) - there are 2 types: one pure 田七only (about $10 for a bottle of 30 pills), the other 田七 plus american ginseng (about $60+ for a bottle of 30 pills). 田七 is supposed to be heaty and the american ginseng will help cool the body so it will not be too heaty.

You can also buy 田七 from medical hall and boil with chicken for the soup. For growing, it is better for daily consumption so pill may be more convenient.

For girls, take note that near / during / slightly after menses should stop consumption of this herb as it is 活血 so not suitable for consumption during that period of the month.
Erh... I thot 田七 can only be given when the boy voice started to change??

My niece was complaining that she’s the shortest in her class and she doesn’t seem to be growing anymore. So my mum heard from her network that this peanut soup thing is supposed to promote growth. So for a period, every weekend there’s peanut soup for dinner. I think it went on for about 3 or 4 weeks until we protested. Told my mum to prepare only for my niece since she is the one who wants to grow taller. Rest of us, no hope of growing taller can only grow sideways.

Hi Funz, so did the peanut soup help in any way? Did your niece grow any taller? I just boiled peanut soup with black chicken yesterday. Added lotus roots too. Giving it a try, hoping DD will grow taller. 😉

I have heard about Tian Qi too.. Maybe I should buy 1 bottle for DD to try, but not sure if she is able to swallow the capsule.. Is it the smaller or larger capsule?

The long pill form capsules. DS opens the pills and put the contents into his milk in the morning. He doesn't like to swallow it. My fren's DS just pop in the pill and swallow with water.

Was told it is to be given during the growth spurts periods: 11 - 12 then 14 - 15 for boys.

Thanks. Your DS is so brave to drive the powder mixed into his milk, as I'm sure it is quite bitter.

ummm. The peanut soup is fighting against genes. How to win?

Niece claimed that she grew a couple of cm but no significant gain in height.

My sis is not tall, only about 156cm, her hubby about 170cm. Her ILs are short, our parents are average height about 160-170cm. There are some tall genes in my family and in her hubby family but from the looks of it, that gene skipped my niece.

Wow, that's fast! did u go all the way to Chinatown to buy it, or is it available somewhere around Bt Timah?

I couldn't find it in those neighbourhood chinese pharmacy shops ...

Btw, how often should the kid take the soup?

Hi JRLam, I bought the dried peanuts from Bt Timah Plaza's Hock Hwa Medical store... I didn't buy the one with the whole plant, cos I don't know how it looks like... So just thought that maybe black chicken with the peanuts may also be good. Anyway, I added lotus roots and also 8 pieces of dried scallops, and the soup was really tasty. Instead of DD drinking it, DH drank most and was extremely pleased with me for boiling this soup. Hahaha!!
