The old myth about limiting eggs is no longer true as research have found. Kumpong eggs is, of course, the best. But how to get? If you have lobang, please PM me. I am very enthu about eggs!!!

You do get kampung eggs in NTUC fairprice. They come in pack of six. I think I also saw in Sheng Siong.

i bought from Fairprice too, round packaging, 6 inside, i think is $3 one tray. i ever bought from wet market in redhill where the auntie(Malay) sell, she said from Msia ownself rare the chicken. not sure how true, but my mum said the eggs not fresh, she said fresh eggs wont stick on the shells ?so we never buy from her anymore.

You mean after boiling?

Once DH had bought the kampung eggs from the wet mkt(admiralty). Never checked whether fresh or not. I must be more careful next time.
To check whether an egg is fresh or not, can put the egg in a glass of water, if it sinks it is fresh, if it floats dump it. 😄

Im not so sure abt that too, whether stick on egg shells means not fresh or not, but my mum said so. yeah i read abt the floating test too. but is it before or after cooked?i forgotten.

now, i stick to the kampung egg bought fairprice , can get the same from cold storage too.

Before cooking of course. So it is safer even if you plan to make an omlette or scrambled eggs. I do this if the eggs have been sitting around for some time.

Happy Mama:
Yesterday i got my P2 boy to write down breakfast menu (Mon to Fri) , hopefully a good breakfast will wake him up. To share :

Monday: Cup cakes and fresh milk
Tuesday: Bread and milo
Wednesday: Oat cereal
Thu: Roti Prata and milo
Friday: Bread , half boil eggs and fresh milk

Subject to change.

Remember to ask your child write down \"subject to change\", as child is quite serious sometime.

That's an interesting menu. Maybe I should start one for DD. She has been complaining that her breakfast's so boring. 😉

Get your DD to write down by herself. From my observation, my son is more \"willing\" to has his breakfast now. Can change menu after he feels boring.
Thanks Anna. Will get her to write her own menu. I briefly told her about your DS's menu and she went like \"Wow, I also want\".

try not to give ur children Ham/sausage tt often as these are not healthy meat and it contains substance tt's not good if take in long run.

try to use steam chicken meat and shred them to make the filling for sandwiches. (if have time, of course)
becos of nitrite or nitrate used in the curing process of ham, sausage, bacon, etc
under suitable conditions will react with nitrogen to form nitrosamines which is a potent cargcinogen.

so it's better to eat less such food......

having said that, think most kids would like to eat them 😉
Thanks for this post. I also read before that ham, sausage, bacon are very much processed. So, i cut down in feeding them to my kids too. Am lucky they love eggs! So, it's usually eggs 2-3X a week.

Additional \"food ideas\" I'd like to share. Sometimes I will prepare fried eggs and porridge for them. I strongly believe in breakfasts as the most impt meal of the day. In the porridge, I will add cut pumpkins, sweet potatoes (just throw in tgthr to boil with porridge) or will add quinoa (need maybe 15-20min to boil?). Other times, it will be french toast or oats with honey most days. Sometimes, I can't bear to finish the pan-fry cod fish (from previous nite dinner). Will leave for kids' breakfast in the morning and then add to porridge for them again for this \"most impt meal
of day\".

To read more about quinoa and its nutritional facts, please see :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa

Hope you'll find the ideas useful!

Thanks for your sharing. nutritious and tasty porridge and oatmeal are indeed good choices for breakfast. I will suggest giving kids some fruits, such as banana, papaya or apple in the morning. Any views pls?

Perhaps can try blending a fruit smoothie if kids r resistant to eat breakfast?

Ntuc in Citysquare mall sells non nitrate sausages. Not cheap though, costs abt $16 per pack…

My son usually eats a wholemeal sliced bread with butter and kaya for breakfast. Sometimes we will pack those tiny buns (3 or SGD1.80) at Four Leaves for his school break in the morning.

Weekends will make French Toast for him and NTUC roti-prata.
Too bad we stay so far away from the market central else last time, weekends we will buy pau for a change as well!
:celebrate:
