HOW TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF PARKING A CAR...ADVICE NEEDED

Recently, I began to pick up my driving again after 8 years....


I still have the fear of parking my car .... :oops:

How to overcome this obstacle.... :?:

How to train to park without fear ...so you will not bang the other car...
cause major traffic jam??

Also have fear going up multi storey carpark.... :stupid:

I took 8 hours of refresher course ....but still cannot conquer Parking....

It takes a while to master or judge the correct angles when parking..

I read your post....you are very strong and tough lady....going thru divorce...

Must be very stress on you....

My spouse RIP after going through a short illness...

Now I feel lost...although most of the time I handled a lot of stuff w/o my spouse...help...

My spouse and I have a 18 years of LOVE and Hate relationship... :stupid:

Now he is gone....our HAte and Love relationship has come to an end...

But leaving a person for good(divorce) and losing someone (dead) is so different....

My heart aches everyday...when I know he is not coming home anymore...

Cannot cry...cannot breakdown because it will affect my kids and parents...

sayang sayang.. dun cry.. bear in mind to love him is to led a better life with ur kids.. That is the only thing you can do for him.. I understand life can be very empty and lost sometimes but you got your friends and families to help you thru.. Especially the love creation from both of you..

Well.. i can be a annoying driver sometimes.. haha.. when i 1st got my license i rented a car to practice. A small one like getz. i go to the top of my MSCP and take my time to park.. Soon you will get a hand of it. Hehe.. :lol:

I am worse, I must have at least 2 empty adjacent lots before I dare to reverse in or else it's head in first (last resort) :oops:

2 steps


1. buy a smaller car

2. Practise Practise Practise

For a start


1. Always head in. You feel more in control

2. Only attempt to park with 2 vacant lots side by side. More room

3. Forget about parallel parking

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help - get passerby to park for you if really stuck

5. Stay out of crowded areas. Practice driving around ulu places until you build up road sense

6. Drive slowly 50km/h. You gonna be honked for road hoarding but have to be thick skin for now

Try parking at HDB carpark in the afternoon when there are not many moving cars - take your time, try many times, go to the next level and start all over again.


When I 1st drive after a few yrs break, I refused to drive with my young children in the car. Build up confidence by driving to familiar places, then move on to Express Way, but not during peak hrs at 1st.

It's been 9 yrs already - I'm the main chauffeur - ferrying kids to sch and hubby to work. Reverse parking no problem but realised I couldn't do parallel parking already Got a church friend who drive the same type of car to help me after trying for so long - got to be thick skin. So now, I'm going to practice my parallel parking

No easy way, just practice practice and more practice.


Just go slow in MSCP. Some places have very tight parking space, so unless there are lots of spaces try to avoid parking head on. Or u will have a hard time coming out.

If your car don't have reverse sensors, go get them fixed in right away. If you feel more comfy, go get front sensors as well.

I can't park parallel, so I would avoid them all together.
