      Busymom:
This month, everyone is indicating $500 with 4 Sundays off in the bio-data.

Goodness... this is getting crazy. Mine will end in May. I better sound her out early

      $500 with 4 off-days! :?

Don’t talk about maid salary raised to $450, I don’t think I can tolerate their attitudes. If really depend on them, they will play punk even more. Not a bad idea to let them go out to have a taste of how expensive eating out is…paying from their own pocket. But sickening thing is being brain washed by the other maids.

Busymom, if that's the case then why don't you approach other agency and compare. I don't believe all the agencies in Singapore will adopt the same approach. Employers can avoid these so-called agencies. How are they gonna survive. They should think long term.

Thank you, peapot, I will. I am not in too much a hurry at the moment, so that's one good thing. 😄

I just heard from my colleague that she got some bio-data of indonesia maids yesterday and these are ex-Singapore maids. They are all asking for $600!!! I told my colleague this agency must be one of the 17 agencies loh!!!

That means the maid agencies are setting $450 for fresh maids and ex-Singapore maids at $600.

If all employers have no choice but to take a fresh maid at $450, then very soon this will be a norm. $450 will become the market rate.

Yes, I saw it with own eyes. It’s stated in bio-data!! $600 is the same as HK and Taiwan rate. Don’t know is it the maid or the maid agency set this rate?

I guess now maybe it would be better to try other countries like Myanmar before they are also start increasing their rate.

I don’t think all the agencies are going for $450. I spoke to my dd’s friend whose mum is in the maid business. She mentioned this is the act of some only. Will going to "smaller" agencies work?

My maid is due in June. Thank goodness, she told me she wants to renew. She has been with us for 4 years. As she gets to read papers, I was transparent with her on the talks of $450 (though my hubby and sil was like there is no need to tell her). I explained to her that it’s the act of some agencies which is not acknowledged yet. At that point, I also shared with her that the government is investigating on their acts (based on ST news) shared in another thread.

In her case, her current is $350 and we are increasing to $400. She was very happy with the increase and said she is not harboring thoughts of $450.

                    ululu:
Anyone knows who are the 17 maid agencies that gang up this time for this obnoxious move? Can someone list their company names here? I will try my best to avoid them in future.

good question but no replies so far.
I know only Nation ( the one that Xiang Yun endorses) is one of them coz the boss/CEO was seen on TV \"fighting this cause\".

Food for Thought: if it is indeed rising cost & competition, is the endorsement really necessary? Who's paying the endorsement fee?

I'm sure we have many wise parents here who will hire a maid based on experience level & interview; not just bcos some tv artiste is fronting the agency!

Oh gee, I just checked Nation Maid's website and search for Indonesian maids. Already almost all of them at SGD450! A couple of maids were even quoted at SGD480 without any experience (but college educated)! Only a very few quoted at SGD360, some with couple of experience working elsewhere before. Now am wondering why they quote \"so low\"?

I used Nations for my maids so definitely affected by this if my maids decide to quit on me.

I heard today MOM talking to all the maid agencies regarding the salary hike. Not sure what is the outcome. Will ask my colleague tomorrow because that’s what the agency told her.

I wonder what MOM say today. Curious.
