      Hi A1A2,

I will also be registering my daughter in this year’s enrollment exercise and would also like to find out more about the school. I believe we would not normally be allowed to enter the school and can only do so by appointment. If the school does not have an open house day, I am wondering whether, if a few parents together could make an appointment to visit the school. If there is a sufficient number of interested parents, there might be a higher chance that the school might "entertain" us.

I would be interested in finding out matters such as how child-friendly the school is, whether it communicates with parents regularly and sufficiently, whether the principal is approachable, whether there are many opportunities for parents to volunteer their time and contribute to the school (which I believe is beneficial for the school), and whether many parents do volunteer or participate in school activities.

On whether the school is child-friendly, I have heard of a top primary school in Singapore which "produce" students with very good academic results yearly, but does not seem to care very much about the children. It may be that the principal is too focussed on good grades. From what I hear, St Margaret’s is not like this and the girls there are quite happy. But it would be good to hear from the school itself too.

A1A2, you mentioned you will fall under phase 2B. Looking at past years’ statistics, it seems you should get a place with no problems. Would you fall under phase 2B because you are a member of an Anglican church in Singapore?

So are there any parents out there who might be interested in approaching the school together, to request for a visit at the school to find out more about it?

Thanks Caynelle… My error. I should be in phase 2C of registration (not 2B as I stated).

Thank you for your response. It seems that there may be more families interested in learning more about the school!

I will contact the school again and ask about opportunities to meet staff and view the school.

Hopefully someone on this forum can answer some of our questions…

          Hi A1A2,

From past years’ statistics, if you live within 2 km, you should be able to get a place in the school too.

Well, all the best with everything! And yes, let’s hope we get to find out more about the school soon.

            HI Caynelle & A1A2

Same here, I will be registering my DD this year. About visiting to the school, ya i called them sometime ago and was informed parents only get to visit the school during the orientation (after succesfully enrolled).

The staff whom provided the information were polite and it was pleasant experience when checking out the school informations from them 😄

              Hi Parents,

Perhaps I can give you some information on the school? I am currently heading the PTA of the school and was an old girl from the school as well. My two dds are in Primary 6 and sec 2 of St.Margaret's respectively.

For parents participation, we strongly welcome any parents who would like to help out in any of the school's events. For instance, we will be having a number of talks - Science and Maths for parents jointly organised by school and PTA and we welcome parents' participation as well as volunteers.

The school provides a holistic environment for the kids and the teachers are generally approachable and caring. P1 kids do not have any exams and kids can participate in enrichment classes from P1 onwards.

The school has over the years getting more popular so we do have a steady stream of parent volunteers. There has been balloting going on each year.

Please let me know how I can help 🙂

                  hi,

i am very interested in enrolling my DD into St. Marge.
However, we are out of 2km.

It seems like doing PV would be the only chance of improving the chances of my DD enrolment…
any one has any idea the deadline for PV submission??

my DD is born in 2006 and will be going for P1 in 2013.

                  appreciate all your inputs

think now is the time for u to give them a call. u have up until mid of next year to complete the PV hrs. based on past experience,so long as u r under phase 2B, shld have no problem getting in. good luck!
