Teachers always use green beans, soaked with water in a cotton bud in an experiment. May I ask how do green bean come from?Is it from bushes, trees,or others?

You very cute. Green beans are found inside pods (black in colour). The green bean plant is a creeper (weak stem that needs to climb onto support such as fence). So you need to break open the pods to see the green beans inside it (something like groundnut)

Hi atutor2001, the green bean plant we grew at home recently didnt creeep nor twine. It grew upright to a height of about 30 cm and started producing pods containing green beans.

Thank you Happy Mama for sharing your knowledge. Can't trust my memory nowadays because I remembered having green bean plants that twine (when I was a little girl).

            Hi all,

What does it mean the stages of growth in a plant is recognizable just like in an animal? TIA 😄

Anyone has idea about the movement of cockroach, hopping , flying or both?

Paul put some animals into 3 groups, X,Y,and Z, as shown in the table below
                Group X: grasshopper, sparrow
                Group Y: Bee, Bat
                Group Z:Shhark, Turtle

In which group would you put the word "cockroach"?

                Thanks!

why is grain a living thing?

                      Hi 24hr-mum

Actually I dare not re-visit this issue because it was extensively discussed 2 years ago. Anyway since nobody is coming forward, let me try to summaries what have been discussed.

Firstly we need to define the \"Characteristics of living thing\" :

                      1. Can move (no need to move freely from place to place)
                      2. Can reproduction
                      3. Can die
                      4. Can growth
                      5. Respond to stimulus
                      6. Carryout gaseous exchange
                      7. Made of cells
                      8. Need energy
                      9. Produces waste

Unfortunately, there is no guidelines on how many criteria must be met before an object is considered as a living thing although in Pr sch I think criteria 2,3 & 4 are considered essential.

A grain meets most of the criteria (except 1, 5) which in my opinion is a living thing.

In the past discussion, we were questioning whether is a cut leaf a living thing..... conclusion I don't know.

                      Cheers
