Teachers will definitely be stressed, that's their KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
A lot of them are very dedicated and find job satisfaction through the kids result. It is a great sense of achievement if their kids do well.

Dedication is good, but dedication includes patience with a compassionate heart. Not just pushing and reprimanding and worse, some extent of shaming. I am guessing alot of my gal's classmates will gear up with external assistance(tuitions/parental coaching) to make up for the 'lost' marks during SAs

Don't you feel sorry for the children?

I feel very sorry for the children, bcos they have no childhood studying in Pei Hwa. Although there is no CA1, there is SA1 to prepare the kids for next month.
I don't know about the shaming part but I know this CA will make many parents worried about SA1, and after the parent-teacher meeting next Friday, kids may have more tuitions if their results are not too desirable.
As a SAHM, I'm also worried about my son's results as I feel it is also my 'KPI' to a certain degree and whether I'm coaching him correctly.

Instead of EL, Dd got to see Math paper. 6 scored full marks. 23 scored above 95. :celebrate:

I am also very happy with DD's Maths results eventhough she told me the mistakes she made were very silly mistakes. I am not expecting full marks but very happy as long as she doesn't get lower than her Pri 2 marks.

By the way, I think DD's class, around 4 got Band 2, the other 39 or so got Band 1 for Maths.

It can be viewed in a positive way...ie kids are taught to be resilient in the face of adversity from young...actually P1 classes should be named RESILIENT.

Chicken and egg issues again, I guess. I think, ultimately, we, as parents are the ones who can make the difference in our children's life. Its our principles that we have to stand firm on.

My gal thanked me the other day because I did not enforce that she must have tuition classes. Well, of course, it is both ways. I told her if she can prove to me that she is dependable, then I will let her be. I believe she was and still is. It is the depth that she needs some guidance, I believe.

It just went through my head...if setting tough CA1 papers is the scare tactic from the school to make the students gear up for SAs, then, if I continue to choose not to load her with any tuition, then I must be prepared that she may even be the 包尾的 in her class even if her scores do not drop. I think I am ok with it. Shall discuss with her.
