Zhiying Language School - Discussion

brought my 4 yrs old+ son for a trial lesson last Dec...lesson and teacher both ok...my son likes the teacher too and best of all likes their toilet... ...cos it has a kiddy toilet as the centre itself is a childcare centre during school hours...as such i observed that most of the kids loves going to the toilet thru out the lesson of 1.5 hrs...they actually gone to the toilet at least 3x.... :!: ....
after the trial lesson the person in charge seems eager to make me sign my son for the lessons as i can see she already prepare all the documents for me to fill in...she keep on persuading me saying the trial class discipline is not good but ask me to sign for another class which she claim is a new class...before tat she say the trial class is better cos less students and it doesn't matter if my child is new to the program...
in the end i didn't sign lor...i find that the program is not as fantastic as it claim...it is just something which we must impose to our kids...means \"repeated drlling of the characters\"...i dun find the lesson interesting at all lor... -
My son tried the Zhiying programme years ago but it wasn’t at the hougang branch; it was run at a CC back then. I don’t think the HG branch was setup yet. They had a set of standard textbook and CD which was used in the programme was supposedly an award winning programme.
Having gone through a term or so of the programme, I found that the syllabus from the text and CD was not really meant for Singapore and would not be able to prepare the child to converse and use Chinese in our daily life in local context adequately. I also find that this programme would not really help to prepare the child for their lower primary school syllabus as the choice of vocabulary taught was different from what our school focus on.
As there are other Chinese programmes around which are more tailored for Singapore children and would prepare kids better for school, I choose not to pursue this programme.
However, having said that, their programme may have changed/improved since then. -
Hi, for those who are at marine parade and looking for Chinese enrichment for your kids can try out Zhi ying. Located opposite parkway parade building. The centre is on 2nd floor above mc donalds. Have arranged for trial lessons which is free for my 3 kids(age 11,8,5) and they love it after the trial. My elder son who was 10 whe he attend berries prefer zhi ying. Really caught me by surprise.

Sorry to open up a new thread as I tried to do a search on this centre but to no avail.
I have received their flyers cum invitation card for their workshop cum a “Live Demo”… not sure what is this all about but keen to find out more.
Just want to hear all the experience mummy & daddy out there if there’s any good or bad feedback.
Thanks in advance! -

I need to change my son's chinese tuition/enrichment as the current one has shifted to one location further from my house. I found one 'zhiying language school' located at the changi-simei community club. Wonder if anyone has positive/negative reviews of them? thanks... :thankyou:

My oldest son is in P4. He joined in P2. His teacher last year was very committed. But this year because of chnage in time schedule, he cannot have the same teacher that he had last year. So far, I think this teacher is not as good as the previous one. Fees are ex too…
He has great interest in chinese but not a lot of improvement. Will consider moving him to RC in june -
Thanks for your response. My boy joined this year P3. Seemed their standard quite high. When I asked him how he felt after their recent 'mock' test, he said their standard seems higher than his school standard  I was surprised that they actually test him on certain words which he has yet to learn (unit 8 or unit 9 of his chinese text book). I have not check with the zhiying teacher on this. The 'open ended' section of the 'mock' test has a lot of chinese idioms(cheng yu) which they expect the child to know and my child is not up to that standard yet. No wonder they claim their last year 'PSLE' has very good result. If a child already has good command of the language, this will ensure they have best result. But if one is not good enough, they may not 'transform' you to one with better interest/command of the language ultimately. :nailbite:

There is another branch at Parkway centre?
