since P1, we've had to wait longer than usual as parents in front of us have many questions to ask.
Suggestions for Teachers to improve the waiting time :-
1. use a numbering queue system, like seeing a 'doctor'.
It is confusing as parents step into the class, and unsure whether how many parents are actually in front of them and who is the next in-line.
2. use a small timer to let both parties know they have to adhere to the 10-min time. It may not be parents who ask a lot of questions, BUT teachers have too many things to share with the parents instead.
3. Parents can prepare checklist of qns beforehand. Go thru the list quickly to ensure teachers answer them all, so that parents can leave the room satisfactorily with 'take-away'.
Just my 2-cents thought for sharing.... -

Thanks for the detailed suggestions Jen :>.markfch:
Ok seriously now, for the parent-teacher session later this week, what can we expect?
1st rule: Keep to the time limit
2nd rule: Do not use the session to scold your child (wasting time here)
3rd rule: Ask for the teacher's perceived strengths and weaknesses in the child
4th rule: Ask for constructive suggestions on how to capitalise the strengths, bring out the potential and weed the weaknesses
5th rule: Ask how you as a parent can help to carry out the suggestions named in 4th rule.
6th rule: Shake the teacher's hand and wish her a good day
So taking your advice on board, can I go in front of FT and ask her, 'Just give me the single most impt thing that ds needs to improve on and how can I help him to do it?'
Whole meeting will last 3 min. Then FT and the parents behind me will be extremely impressed with this papa .....
Thanks to the rest for your advice too. -

Thanks, Jennifer, for the advice. I shall control my tongue...markfch:

Soli newbie here as far as P-T session is concerned.
Just one more qn.
Do I get to meet just the FT? Or would I also be able to meet CL T too?
Been wanting to know how to further improve dsโs CL standard. -

Or is it individually which means 3 x 10 min = 30 min? -

that is provided the one in front of you stick to the 1st rule and there is no long queue behind you.....if not, ...........guess what will happen.....
Yes, some parents need some harsh treatment.
Last year, I had to say loudly behind one particular parent who had way exceeded the time limit \"aiyo, already passed the time limit, still cant stop ah\". Those other parents in q got the hint, finished very quickly.
During my elder boy's P5 Meet the Teacher, I had to see at least 4 different teachers (EL, CL, Sc, MA) on top of my younger boy (EL/MA, CL). I was in sch in the morning and left the sch only ard 5pm. Once bitten, twice shy. The following year (elder boy's P6 and younger boy's P2), I reached sch before the official time started and finished in mid afternoon. Last year only needed to see 2 teachers. This year, EL, CL, MA and Sc, so must go early too.
Some trivial issues can always email or call the teachers, absolutely no need to wait till this once a year event. If really impt issues, lagi cant wait till this day.
Ever seen a parent kept scolding the child in front of the teacher :x
Do keep in mind that some teachers teach more than 1 class. This is the worst possible situation (which unfortunately I kena during my younger boy's P2 year).
So, good luck to all. -
