My final answer is (1) refusing to comment on something. Pls tell me I'm right.
Question: The meaning of \"tight-lipped\" from the passage is __________.
(1) refusing to comment on something
(2) being secretive -
Jennifer:
It shld not matter whether the no. of days was taught in class. This type of qn shld be answered based on whatever info/details presented in the diagram.
my boy also got wrong for this q. My questions is have the kids been taught in class how long will it be for each cycle.S6169:
Study the diagrams below
Life cycle of a chicken adult ->egg ->chick ->adult
Life cycle of a cockroach adult ->egg ->nymph -> adult
Give one difference and one similarity between the life cycle of a chicken and a cockroach
I thought for this type of qn that shows diagrams, our ans must be based on the diagram.
Diff: the cockroach completes its life cycle in a shorter time than the chicken life cycle
where in the diagram indicates the number of days???
I clearly remembered last year paper on comparing two animals (a mammal vs a bird), the qn clearly states no colour/size comparison. Must be what can be seen from the diagrams.
My girl wrote :
The chicken lays one egg at a time whereas the cockroach lays a few eggs at a time.
It was marked correct. -

Yes, I agreed his ans to part B is less than desired. BUT due to this, his correct ans in part A is also not recognised as correct. His understanding is there, but manner of explaining is lacking.
there is a big diff between the term \"no air\" and \"lesser air\". am i right?php:
Another qn 35a) In which setup will the guppy be the first to die? Explain your ans (2 marks).
My boy ans the first part correctly, but no marks becos his 2nd part ans was marked wrong.
His ans: There was no air for the guppy to breathe in setup B.
Correct ans: The fish in setup B has lesser air becos the oil blocks the air from coming in.
I find the marking scheme getting more stringent.
Whenever we encounter such questions in Science, 'less' and 'no' make a great difference. I told mine that when come to answering Science questions, accuracy and precision matters. She did not use 'air', instead use 'oxygen'. Hence she wrote for 2nd part:
The layer of oil acts as a barrier, preventing oxygen from entering the water, therefore, the guppy in setup B will die when the oxygen is depleted in the water. -
According to collins, tight-lipped is to describe someone as unwilling to give any information about something. I think the answer is (1).

Hehehe... Sorry I am also not able to confirm the highest, as DD is not sure if highest is 49 or 49.5 out of 50 marks
DD told me the highest mark is 49.5 out of 50. -
Agree cos my dd got this question wrong! She thinks too much. What an irony, thinks too much also wrong, doesn’t think also wrong. She felt the little kids all ran to help out so should be 合作,instead of 关怀. You can’t 搭配 合作 with 互相. It’s usually 分工合作。Like you’ve mentioned, the scenario doesn’t seem appropriate in showing 关怀.
same, my dd also filled in "合作", 而“互相合作”是常用词语。不过用于此短文也很牵强, 但至少好过填“关怀”。
My dd also got this wrong! Her answer : 关怀. -
My answer would be (1) too. 'Tight-lipped', I perceive that someone else is trying to ply some information, yet the subject is not disclosing despite the pressure. 'Being secretive' is more of a lighter note, more like 吊胃口.
