      jce:

Green apples are fantastic for soup too. A few green apples, honey dates, dried almond (nan bei xing), huai shan and ribs.

Bittergourd and pineapple goes well together too. My Taiwanese friend said this is the way they cook the soup in Taiwan.

      Coconut and chicken.

Hi jce, this is interesting. So you boil bittergourd and pineapples together with meat? Wonder how it'll taste like.

my mum ever cook chicken with pineapple, but i never tried pineapple soup before.. quite interesting. bittegourd is bitter, pineapple if sweet.. so it become bitter-sweet soup ? how its taste??

Very curious to try, but not sure of the proportion.

I've seen it at NTUC occasionally.

I just bought them from Geylang Market. It is 7.50 to 8 per chicken. It is good for soups.

The pineapple takes away some of the bitterness from the soup. I bought the sweet Sarawak pineapple, smallest they had, and used half of that. Bittegourd was relatively big. Ribs I always use a lot, at least 1kg. Soup was made in a 6litre pot.

I like using fruits in soup and dishes, very refreshing.

Thanks jce. I've never tried using fruits for soup but will try out now after seeing so many soup recipes with fruits. :celebrate:
