wonderm:
It depends. For me and my boys, I am able to add more value to them when they are in Sec school. The nature of help is of course different from that in Primary school and one may not need to do that full time. In Primary school, it was quite standard revision for the 4 subjects when it came close to PSLE. In Sec school, they have to learn new skills in both academic and other areas like CCA, leadership. Parents can guide them to be more effective in learning so they could enjoy their Sec school life more.

All the best to your child's PSLE this year! I was like you last year, couldn't wait for PSLE to be over to throw away all the primary school things and it was really exciting when we finally could do that last Oct.
Hi wonderm

Thank you for your wisely input.

Still the old saying, 听君一席话,胜读十年书

Thank you for your good wishes and hopefully dd can do well in the PSLE as she wish to take HCL in Secondary school.

Very reassuring to hear you say that it's not that bad to have 2 kids sittting for national exams.

You mentioned DS2 is sitting for O levels this year..so how old is your DS/DD1 ?

I will try out one of the KS parents suggestion on getting the kids to read out loud and also get him to practice his oral skill.

I will face this similar scenario too...PSLE and O levels. Give me a 5.
Hi Janet,

:hi5: Looks like there are a few of us here with kids going thru O levels and PSLE in the same year. 😉

Hi mum1113,
Fantastic that your DS is inspired to read Chinese books once again. I tried to get DD to read 笑猫日记 but she's not interested.....hiazz. What simpler CL books is your DS reading? Maybe I can see if I can perform a miracle with my DD & get her to read a Chinese book...keke. 😉 Tks

The books too simplistic to talk here liao....paiseh paiseh   let's PM... 😉

Hi mum1113,

ok, ok.... Thanks... 😉 Appreciate it.

Yes. Agree this is very tedious. The more I can do is expose dd to more CL song and hopefully she can remember the lyrics.

So mummy and daughter can \"Da Shen Gao Chang\" as the saying goes, practise makes perfect right

Ha ha. We always like to sing ....
...百战旧河山 古来功难全 江山几局残 荒城重拾何年
文章写不尽 悠悠沧桑史 悲欢岁月尽无情
长江长千里 黄河水不停 江山依旧 人事已非.....

And don't need to buy egg lah....
 Wow......this song is very cheem leh.....haven't heard it before....from which era? 😉

:hi5: DD also having her oral SA1 from 18 April. DD's spoken Chinese is a direct translation from English. 😢

I think this is quite normal as they have more lesson teaches in English as well as in the EL environment from morning to 3.30pm except CL lesson.
Usually EL oral is not a worry but CL oral (50 marks) we have to put in more effort lah.
