Soup, glorious soup...

r2010:
I just bought them from Geylang Market. It is 7.50 to 8 per chicken. It is good for soups.
Thanks r2010.

The pineapple takes away some of the bitterness from the soup. I bought the sweet Sarawak pineapple, smallest they had, and used half of that. Bittegourd was relatively big. Ribs I always use a lot, at least 1kg. Soup was made in a 6litre pot.
I like using fruits in soup and dishes, very refreshing. -
Thanks jce. I've never tried using fruits for soup but will try out now after seeing so many soup recipes with fruits. :celebrate:

u can replace the chicken/pork bones with ikan bilis.. better for the kids.. or just do some vegetable soup like the following, VERY simply and full of nurtitients
a. carrotx 2 (cut into chunks)
b. potatoes x 2 (cut into chunks)
c. big inion (yellow)
d. corn x2 (cut into 2/3 from one corn)
e. tomatoes (slice into 4)
jst throw everything into a pot of water and boil for 45 mins to 1 hour in slow fire.. ur kids will love the taste and they will eat the corn, usually.
Hope this helps. You can try the pear soup without the chicken/pork too. i usually boil the pear soups during vegetarian days this way. -
I think this is a very teochew thing. Fish head soup. Fish of choice, Kurau. Must be super fresh.
Just boils some water, throw in a couple of slices of old ginger, add a dash of chinese cooking wine, dump the fish head in, add salt for taste, boil till cooked. When serving, add some pepper, fried shallots, lots of spring onion and parsley.
We like to dip the fish in either belachan with some lime or you can chop up a little garlic and chilli padi, add some black soya sauce and lime for your dipping sauce. -
That sounds delicious Funz.
