Teaching Chinese at Home

hi phankao, thanks for your detailed tips! Yes, we did go through the DVD bit by bit, and not the whole thing in one go, at first. We definitely skip the music/scenery section - it’s just too boring haha! After a while of doing bit by bit, my son can finish the whole DVD no problem at all, but subsequently, he just found it too boring and walked off hahaha! So we stopped. Don’t know if it means that he already learned everything or if it means that he finally decided he didn’t like it. Anyway, we will try it again!

It's really so much more effortless when they are below 1yo and not running around, right? -
phankao,
about Glenn Doman, well I know many parents do use his methods and believe in them so I don't want to say much otherwise I'll probably start a big debate! I have bought and read almost all his books (I am quite a geek) and in fact I did a lot of background research on his methods and his institute. In short, his methods and studies have been widely discredited by the medical establishment and have even been said to be dangerous. I don't intend to push any point across here, I am happy enough to accept that each parent chooses the method that he/she is comfortable with.
I absolutely love your little books! Yes, using images and lessons that relate to your child's daily life is a tool that many childhood educators use. Your little one is so lucky to have a hardworking mummy like you! I think that your little books must really have been the X-factor in his language development! Kudos to you! -

yeah, definitely. Nevertheless, I think there is a chance he will sit through it again. Perhaps it's like toys - must rotate once in a while!pinkiepirate:

Hi Parents,
Do you know where I can get audio stories (cds) with books, and any recommendation? I have a set from Perlangi series but they are for preschoolers and the stories are really short.
Looking for age Kindergarten and P3 level.
Many thanks. -

The books can simply be summarised as \"flashcard\" anything you want the kid to know! Big words, flash fast. The more topics you show, the more the kid knows. Every child has capacity to multiply his intelligence, even brain-injured kids, just a matter of exposure. That's just about what I get from the books. I don't infer anything else.phankao,

I did those books when he was much younger. Now, I rarely do them much.
