Once a week tuition is not sufficient to pull up the marks for PH's CL papers if your kids are not using enough mandarin. My dd used to be very good in CL, and speaks only mandarin. She had a good foundation. Nonetheless, I still let her do CL practices as often as possible, and read CL storybooks because she is speaking more of EL now and finding the CL's standard getting tougher. Though much work had been invested in CL, still, her CL CA1 marks dropped by about 6 marks compared to last year's CA1. I guess in order to do well for PH's papers, the tutor needs to truly understand the standard of PH's CL. I have seen many school's CA1 papers, none can really match up to the difficulty of PH's CL paper. Just my 2-cents.hl124273:
However, I feel that she is not producing results. My daughter was getting high 90s in Primar y1 PHPPS end of the year exam, and her recent CA1 P2 higher chinese result is only 85, losing most marks in her comprehension (15 marks for compre). Prior to the CA test, this tutor told me to go get the past yr exam papers and she gave them to my gal as home work and feedbacked that my gal is weak in comprehension and told me to get comprehension assessment books ( my gal has quite a few assessment books already). However, I see no improvement.
Tat's what I'm worry... paying such a high rate and did not manage to see the result.. My ds aso weak in comprehension.... *Sigh* still exploring to see what suit him better.

Yes, as long as can maintain average or above average in class, ok already. So the release of the GEP pupils still reduces the stress because it pulls down the average mark too. Unless one gets class promotion lah, then more stress to maintain average.
As for me, I even 'lower' my expectation to 2% below class avg since she is w/o tuition (took away berries since Nov last year) and much less of my coachings. -
