Look markfch what have you done .... :rotflmao:
Haha, the GEP topic is always very subjective .... must tread carefully otherwise kenna shot for nothing.

:itwasntme: It's all Happy Mama's fault for starting the topic on ratio of PH GEP students in the first place. :siam:

In addition, exam skill and exam stamina are truly tested in REAL exams rather than the home one.
Well, we can't have the cake and eat it at the same time. For the 'privilege' of having no exams, I'm prepared for ds to forgo this learning experience for the time being.

Who? :whut: Hey, the thread had been so quiet the past few days. I'm just adding some spice to this thread. Never expected you all to be 'allergic' to spices. :rotflmao:

          Hi JRLam,

Thanks for your recommendation - the tutor's schedule is all full, but she's really nice to recommend me a friend of hers who is able to tutor my kids at $30 an hour. Spoke to the recommended tutor, and she will be coming to teach my P2 gal on Monday, as the first trial before I make a decision.

In fact, when I mentioned to the tutor that my current tutor charges my K1 gal $50 (flat rate for pre schoolers, one hour), she was surprised that the pre schooler charges are even higher than my P2 gal's charges at $60 for 1.5 hr.

          Hope she is good πŸ™‚

          JRLam:
          hl124273:

I am paying her $60 a 1.5 hour for my P2 who started with her since she was in P1 , and I just started my K1 younger gal with her and she charges $50 a lesson ( 1 hr) for pre-primary. My younger girl has little exposure to mandarin and hence I wanted her to start early. Also, both have lessons twice a week since that is the tutor's recommendation.

I thought $40/hr for lower pri is alot  . Mine is charging $20/hr, and she is very sought after by alot of parents in my place. Her students include RGPS' too. Also, I don't think lower Pri needs twice-a-week, in my opinion, unless they are really weak (which yours are definitely NOT with 85 marks in P2 CA1), or those from non-Chinese background. Upper Pri maybe a different story though.

Unfortunately my tutor's schedule is fully-packed, otherwise will recommend u to her. She told me she has to turn down interested parents ..

              HI hl124273,

              $30/hr for P1/2 is reasonable.

My prev tutor wanted to raise her fees to $60/hr for P5 :!: . She decided to do so because she has finished her bond with MOE and now a full-fledged teacher.

I feel so blessed and relieved my son's prev tutor has returned to teach him...asked her for favour to help out for 2 years until son finishes PSLE at least. She has also taught me to write the hanyu pinyin on flash cards to teach P1 daughter...like a, o, e, ui, ou for eg. My daughter memorizes the sequence in her textbook but once test her out of textbook, she doesn't remember.

And when that happens, I promise not to overtly display my emotion.

I'll just :dancing: and :boogie: quietly in my heart. :rotflmao:
