Does P2 has compo in exams ?
For P2, there will be compos (paper 1) for EL which will be out of 15 marks. They are required to write a story based on 4 pictures in 50 mins.
For P2 SA1 CL Paper 1, the time allocated was 1 hour 20 mins. The kid is supposed to construct 5 造句 (10 marks) and 看图写话 (10 marks). For 看图写话, it's to write a one-para coherent, fluent story of min 40 chars. However, it's better to write more as advised by most teachers because after cancelling out the erroneous sentences or chars, the compo will be less than 40 chars, thus marks will be deducted.
When it comes to SA2 CL Paper 1, the same components will be assessed, but time will be reduced to 1 hour, thus the kids have to think and write faster, this is in preparation for them to write proper paragraphed CL compo from P3 onwards in 40 mins.
I am not sure what's the current understanding of CL teachers across the board for P2 as P1 had gone en-bloc last year. For CH2 last year, the CL T expected them to write at least 120 -150 chars. -

Hi E3, can you recall what was the story about in last year SA1 Paper 1? Just want to have a rough idea and set my expectation right before proceeding to coach my dd in this area. I think it will be tough for my dd...hl124273:

The teachers will let the P2 kids attempt last year's Papers 1 before the exams. If you check the content page of the Chinese Folder, I believe you can tell how many practices will be assigned to your dd by her teacher.E3:

For EL:
SA1 - Two boys using a catapult to hit a beehive, the bees attacked the boys, went to clinic for treatment, ultimately learnt their lesson. Kid had to think of a solution to escape from the bees as the there was no pic on this.
SA2 - Hit and run accident on the road. A boy was injured. Eye-witnesses noted down the car plate number, (then buy 4-D...hehe...
), police, ambulance and paramedics were called etc.
For CL:
SA1 - A classroom scene. A boy was distracted, not listening to the teacher conducting the lesson.
SA2 - A park scene. People exercising under the sweltering hot sun.
For CL pictures, usually the picture does not give away a lot of details, however, there'll be a number of helping phrases or chengyu to guide the kid to write a proper ending to the picture. -

The exam formats for the papers cannot be found on the web. This forum is where you'll usually find the info.
Btw, I hope there's no change to the time allocation and formats cos nowadays, lots of changes going on. :? -

Yes, there'll be helping words. My advise is to start training her to get used to writing compositions as often as possible. Dd used to write from pictures from Picture Compositions 2 by Terry Bell, published by Learners Publishing.
