will this happen in spore when diaster strikes?
Any guilty ones from KSP forum? Quick own up. :)[/quote] :offtopic:
haha one guilty one here. but that was years ago when still very young and very very keen on those chinese romance books (not good excuse right? ). but after 2 such mad dash, gave up because it was so silly. however must say that all these pushing and shoving somehow do toughen one up after many practices. that's why the aunties are so good at grabbing all the books in one go. -

I doubt so. Sadly but truly, Singaporeans (maybe not all) have similar mentality like the Chinese all over the world - kiasu, kiasi and don't believe in queueing especially in a crisis. Somehow, the Japs are a different breed, perhaps it's in their culture.

Way2go, the pix and news are heart wrenching. My heart really goes out to the Japanese people.
Just today, I watched the NHK World news on CNA and there was this school principal fighting back tears to give out the graduation cert to the father of a boy who died in the disaster. The father was sobbing into a hand towel, very very sad...
One of the graduated student gave a speech, amidst tears, that this recent disaster has been very traumatic to him and the whole of Japan, but added that he doesn't blame Heaven and hope that all of Japan will stand together to overcome. Very encouraging mature words coming from a teenaged boy. -

Radioactive Iodine 131 has a short half life of 8 -9 days.
\"OSAKA: Radioactive iodine that exceeds the level considered safe for infants has been detected in Tokyo's tap water, a city official said Wednesday, advising parents not to give it to their babies....\"
Scary... then can drink what? After boiling will be safe meh?
Wonder how many years later than safe to go Japan...
If only Iodine 131 and no further contamination, the water will be safe
to drink in a month or so when the iodine 131 decays further.
At current level of 210 Bq, it is still safe for adults to drink.
Boiling does not remove radioactive iodine. -

Worry about those which have a longer half life as they will linger on for years.Radioactive Iodine 131 has a short half life of 8 -9 days.

Generally, radioactive isotopes with shorter half life hv more radioactivity.
The other radioactive material reported leaked is Cesium, which has a half life of 30 years.
Water source contaminated with high levels of dis isotope is as good as gone.
