Becos she only 17? Was upset thinking about what she did to the baby (nonid to see video). I cannot imagine being so calm headed like the parents if it happened to my kids...I probably would have done something not so good.mama_g:

If she can deign to show face over holding money whilst she is on home leave after taking so much kindness from your family, yes, better to just send her packing. For now, agree with everything she say. Once nearer the date, just send her to airport and say thank you and goodbye.
So, as employers, we must not be afraid to change maids. We can try to accomodate whatever we can, but if the demands are beyond us and bordering unreasonableness, then it may be better to let the maid go. Don't hv to keep thinking that they have taken us for granted, that we have been so nice to them....you will only make yourself feel v miserable. Just treat everything as business and for your next maid, don't need to be so nice 'cos they will not remember when they start to make their demands.
Honestly, I don't think I would be as kind - to advance her pay etc. I hate to be in that position wondering if she is going to stay long enough etc that I rather be the bad person upfront and tell her NO. Anycase, since you give your maid some measure of freedom, fret not, I'm sure there will be better ones coming your way.
On that point about her stubborness, I can only wish that lady luck - afterall she's a working wife (and maybe mum) just like me. I heard too many sob stories to honestly believe that most men with money and little work can be up to any good - there are some, may hers be one of the gems. -
Think I know what to do.
Since she doesn’t appreciate our kindness then no point of us been generous to her. -
I had consulted her Maid Agency and according to them, employer can ask the maid to pay for her airfare and we will return her the $$ after she came back from Home Leave.
Well.... I relayed the same message to our helper and she rebutted saying that her friends (neighbourhood maids) don't have to deposit $$ with the employers before they went for Home Leave.
May I know is it true ?
In fact, I do not wish to renew her contract (since she is so calculative with us) but we can't afford to upfront the huge amount of Maid Loan and Maid Agency Fee therefore have to bear with the unreasonable attitude.

Hi gumiho,
I remembered i withhold a sum of S$500. I explained to her that my concern would be if in any event that you do not return for good, the deposit is meant to ensure you will be back.
Hope that will help you in explaining to your maid. -

Hope that will help you in explaining to your maid.
However, I had explained our concern but she is too stubborn to listen.
Haiz... I find it so hard to deal with filipino maid. They are giving me this impression that we are out to cheat them.

It is their \"victimised\" mentality at work lor.
This maid of yours is too calculative.
You may have problems managing her even if she really returns from her home leave 'cos she already have you under her thumb (Plse pardon my frankness.)
You should seriously think abt the change.
Maid Loan can use post-dated cheques which will spread out your cost outlay. Anyway, you will also need to use the same amt (if not more) for your current maid's salary if she returns.
If you really dun wan to change, then you may have to just take the risk to let her take back all the money and hope for the best lor.
Btw, are you so sure that she wans to renew the contract with you? Is there a hidden agenda to all these \"stubborn-ness\" and \"unreasonableness\" and \"counting every cents with employer\"?
Maybe, you wan to ponder over this. -
If a Filipino maid goes on home leave, she’ll need to get paperwork done at the embassy right? One of which is a contract which states that her salary must be minimum USD400 and one day off every week. So if a maid goes on home leave, we have to up her salary to USD400? Agencies say that you can tell the maid that we will not follow the contract. But the maid can always bring the contract to the embassy for enforcement?
What are your experiences and views on this?
