National serviceman needs maid to carry his backpack

I suppose end of the day the NS guy and the maid should not be blame.. The parents should be blame.. In Singapore its such a common sight.. Having maid carrying bags for kids.. feed kids.. pick up things when kids drop it.. Some parents pamper their kids so much that by the time their kids turn P1, teachers are still expected to clean their ass after biz.. Perhaps some parents should try to let their kids do their own stuff themselves instead of depending so much on the maid.. Guess to this NS boy its juz common that his maid carries his bag.. Afterall after book out or gg to book in NS life is tiring enough to endure awhile more to have his bag carried to his destination.


End of the day some parents should review if they had overly pampered on their kids and overly depended on maid. Sometimes we need to let go to let our kids grow up.. :love:

One time, my DS (3.5yos) was carrying his bag to kindy, he told me his bag was heavy (since he is in N2, he still carry extra clothings in case of accidents). I offered to help and he said no. Although I was worried, I let him be. Am glad with my decision.

ummm, on the topic of crying, our MM also did so on national TV once. I would say it all depends on the circumstance why tears were involved. Despite that event, I don’t think anyone would dare say our ‘enemies’ are scared of us becos he shed some tears.

Not wise for us to draw any conclusion just on the basis of the photograph provided. Its best to let his superiors investigate and take appropriate action to prevent future recurrence.



I symphatise with the young man in the picture who has lots of explaination to do to account for such behaviour in public.

In the meantime, its not apporpriate to bash him in pubic forum as we do not know the actual circumstances of this incident.

The only acceptable reason that I can think for him to let his maid carry his backpack is that he has an excuse from his medic to excuse from carrying backpack because of injury of some sort. If this is the case, very soon there will be another news report stating it

Even if you do not appreciate the contributions from our servicemen/women, on this occassion, i have to educate you that is because of a strong SAF that we can have peace and security to bring up the next generation, our careers, homes and lifestyles. Without a reliable SAF, there's completely no future for Singapore.

Nobody said that NS is not impt. We all know that it is. But it doesn't mean that everyone here has to subscribe to ONLY your view to appreciate the impt of NS. We can choose to see the lighter side of things and STILL appreciate the impt of NS. No?

There's a limit to jokes and i see as breaching of ethics by taking portshots of service personnel in a sacred instituition in this instance.

Ur DS is so lovely.. :love: I'm training DS to carry his own belongings.. Grandma is pampering him too much by carrying his bag for him.. So even his own water bottle he is complaining its too heavy.. Recently we managed to let DS to carry his own shopping bag.. Hope DS will get use to it soon.. :lol:

:celebrate:[/quote]My personal preferance is during wartime, I do not want to see my commander cry. It might be unfair but to me despite all the advances in technologies, soldiers are warriors. Even in the worst situation, have to dig deep. It's a sexist statement I admit, and I'm surprise that I feel this way but I would not want to see my commander cry.
