Just now ds came back excitedly with a solar car. He kept saying, 'Cool man.'

He then launches into a non-stop 'lecture' on how solar energy causes the stationary car to move. Really appreciate PH's exposure here. :celebrate: Ding ding ding ding.

I believe nothing motivates a child to be curious about the environment more than thru practical experience. Thank you PH πŸ˜†
Dd's time was a solar grasshopper. Quite special too.πŸ˜‰

Grasshopper is definitely more interesting than a car. Better don't let ds know this; otherwise means more :moneyflies: fly out from my pocket, hehe.

DS is treating his solar car as a new treasure ..... for the moment. But his pattern is that in time to come, he'll just move on to the next 'treasure' .

surprisingly, i don't need a reading glasses at the moment....but i thought you are much younger than me...

The problem hit me when I was in early 30s. Surprising rite? But according to optician, it's not an uncommon phenomenon nowadays.

Do you have perfect eyesight as far as short-sightedness is concerned?

No leh. I was a specky since sec 2 though my short-sightedness has stabilised at 250 deg for each eye since those days. I do find my current bifocal glasses pretty uncomfortable so most of the time I take them out when I need to read; which is a source of amusement during meetings as far as my colleagues are concerned.

Of course they don't dare to laugh at big boss lah, so laugh at me lor  .

Only diff is, I had it in my early 30s. Luckily nowdays bifocals don't have that dreaded middle line separating the 2 lenses. Technology advancement has made it possible to mesh 2 lenses transparently into one.

As for names, I certainly prefer the english name of hyperopia or even the chinese name of θΏœθ§† rather than the colloquial 'lao hua yan'. Maybe I 人老心不老  .

Interestingly, there was a report on this issue recently in asiaone below.
                  http://www.asiaone.com/Health/Women%2527s+Matters/Story/A1Story20100927-239211.html

Edit: Upon further reading, I realised that hyperopia is different from presbyopia. Oh man, time to upgrade my knowledge ..... wiki where are you? πŸ˜‰

I'm quite fed-up wearing glasses, esp when I'm perspiring and glasses keep slipping off nose. Thought of doing Lasik but worry about side-effects and thinking I may not be able to do away with glasses completely if I should develop lao3 hua1 one day. Surgeon who did eye op for hubby said presbyopia (lao hua) hits when person reaches 40...and I'm getting close to that
