      SAHM_TAN:

So now either miracle or to hear the worst possible news from Japan

      All is not lost yet.
Over the weekend, operations began to replace the seawater with fresh water containing boric acid for Units 1 -3.
Unit 2 was the last to undergo this water change beginning on 26th March morning.

Lighting from external power source was restored to Central Control Rooms of Units 1 -3 by 1700 hours on 26th March,
enabling engineers to check condition of equipment.

      So there is some progress.
Then they encountered the problem with the highly radioactive stagnant water in the basement.

A good piece of news is that the three workers exposed to radiation of bwt 2,000 - 6,000 mSv were discharged from hosiptal this afternoon.

      They are brave

          .

Once d radioactive materials r released into d atmosphere, they can be anywhere depending on where d wind blows.
But d amount reported so far r in minute quantities to be an immediate health hazard.
u r going to get radiation anyway everytime u take a flight, more so when d flight path is via d North Pole.
Shd be Ok, so long as he don't take Chinese milk (melamine contamination), pig blood (formalin contamination), etc...

Zann, don't press d panic button yet.
AVA has upgrade its surveillance to 'hold and test' for Japanese food imports.
Goods detected with radiation higher than recommended limits r not released to d market for sale n consumption.
More details in AVA link here: http://www.ava.gov.sg/

Do wonder if AVA only test for Iodine 131, Cesium 134 & 137?
These r d most common radioactive isotopes released but there r others in nuclear fission - some r harmful, some r not.

Thanks Way2GO for all the updates.. I am wondering is this your interest or your work cause your knowledge in these things is quite good πŸ˜‰

Ppl r worried of radiation coz, like a virus,
it's invisible to d naked eye n it can be a serious health hazard.
                    d more n better informed ppl r,
each can take d necessary precaution
n remain calm in a sea of commotion.
                    So it's a public service. πŸ˜‰

To d other part of d question,
d reply is in ur pm.

wondering if they purposely cut singapore or they by mistake had put? :?
There's a map showing d radiation spread in d atmosphere n SG is not in it.
I see if I can find d link to dat map to post it here.

Based on dat n in d absence of any other reports,
                      it's probably a typo dat's being corrected.
