P3 Assessment Books (English, Maths, Science & Chinese)

Don't mind me barging in here, the Casco Maths workbook recommended by Mr. Jame Ang is this one, by Lee-Ann Goh :

Only P6 and P5A published this year (not for the other P levels & P5B not out yet). I had a look around and saw that the same author wrote Maths workbooks for Secondary schools - my friend with kids in S3 and S2 this year told me she has been using this series of workbooks for her children.

Hi Parents,

With so many discussions about getting Math assessment books (Casco, Andrew Er, Fabian Ng, Visible Math etc), I am now a bit concerned. I used to have an Andrew Er's book last year, but we did not manage to find time to do even a quarter of the book. Hence, this year I am using only past year papers for math revision. Parents with upper primary children, do you think that it is sufficient? Or are the problem sums in past year exam papers easier than those in the regular math assessment books?

Andrew Er, Fabian Ng used to be the ‘regulars’ I would get when my son was in lower-mid pri. But now, there is Onsponge, Challenging Problems, Visible Thinking and Heuristics recommended for Upper primary. Some schools do set tough Maths questions. Usually we will work on the chapter in assessment book first, then do few schools past year paper for exposure.

Yes, agrees with Janet - I bought either Andrew Er or Fabian Ng's Assessment Book since DD1 was in P1 till this year but every year, sure left with at least 70% of the book undone :P. So, now I am more selective and buys Maths Assessment Book based on Sch Teacher's recommendation (this year will be Visible Thinking) :D. As for past year exam papers, I only download those free ones from the web page and let her practises 1-2 week before exam

Hi Champion,
I usually don't let my child do any papers the day before the exam. The weekends before the exam are used to go through past mistakes (assessment/papers) files, textbooks and workbooks. I try to reduce the intensity of revision 1-2 week before the SA1 date because there was once, child fell sick a week before exams. Luckily we started revision early. We also usually leave the last 2 weeks for Chinese revision as the teachers tend to only complete the required topics on the last week before exams (and there are tons of CL characters that need revision in recognition and writing ).

OnSponge - cannot be found in Popular. Have to order online or some selected bookshops may sell. I saw it 2 years ago at the PanPac bookshop located in Ayer Rajah Industrial Estate, but think the bookshop have shifted to somewhere around Bukit Batok? Probably, you can try to call and ask.

Some schools may sell it at their school bookshop as well.

Very troublesome to order online. The preview of the book looks good. I took a peek at their P4 book and nearly fainted. A lot more different from what the children learn from P1-3.
Anyone has the address to this bookshop please pm me. Thanks!
