My First Skool (former NTUC Childcare)

Despite the increase, I think it is still reasonable. I do believe the cost of maintaining the CCC had gone up. And since MFS is run by NTUC, the price should be competitive compared to our similar centres. I am waiting for the new branch at Bishan to open. It is scheduled to open on 2 May. Hope it won’t be delayed any further.

It’s opening in May?
I thought it’s opening in feb/march. Is it the one at blk 236? -
Yes it is the one at Blk 236. We were told initially that it will be opened in March, then delay to April and now 2 May. Let’s hope there won’t be anymore delay.

i would think the price rise of jst 21 dollar or 24 dollars is reasonable. the teachers are more well-trained and better environment. one good thing abt MFS is that the food served to the kids are healthier, only one fried food a week, milk, cereal, rice and vegetable. this has been published in newspaper as their diet is provided by ministry. and now many young teachers, they are move lively, creative and click with the young ones. i feel the brand has been getting better. haa…

Hi,
My DD has recently promoted from the MFS infant class to the toddler class, now still trying to adapt to the new teacher and environment. Anyone knows if MFS teaches phonics and start at what age? What about counting and maths? Is it necessary to send my children to additional enrichment classes for phonics or can I just depend on the MFS syllabus and teachers? Thanks -

i personally think no, you should not jst depend on MFS syllabus and teachers. you may approach the teacher to explain to you their syllabus and what is expected by age group.Hi,

I would think if you would depend wholely on the teacher, ur kids will be left out in many areas, either language/maths. They are quite slow in teaching, as they attend to bigger group, like 20 students to 2 teachers. they split into two groups to teach, one by chinese teacher, one by english teacher, usually.
Phonics wll be taught in nursery (4 yo class), letters recognition. numbers and chinese words recognition. they will start writing when in 5 to 6 yo, hand yu ping ying in last term of 6 yo. and mathematics concepts in 5 & 6. -
Hi mambobb and micollh,
thank u very much for your replies. Guess I will send my DD to extra classes once she is old enough.
So what is the standard of N, K1 , K2 syllabus for MFS? Is it more advance than PCF K1 K2 standard? -

i think the syllabus in MFS is standard. most N, K1/2 the same. They have enrichment which is optional like drama and speech, kindermusic, chinese theatre, you can sign up for ur DD, as i did too, as the classes will be conducted during their cc's hour mah.. they get to learn different thing too.
PCF is half day, from wat i know ?(my col's DS is with PCF), they teach even slower.. cos few hours only. but i guess the syllabus more or less the same. they all under MOE, must follow the syllabus established by MOE. -
micollh:
oic, ok, thanks.
