Hi IJJ,
That's what my son told me.
That is the downside of working on past year papers; the answer key for MCQ alone for this particular paper has 3 errors.

Q1
http://postimage.org/image/2c3ahkfyc/
Child's Answer: 1; Answer Key: 3
Child's Q: While plant need air to respire and the glass tank has air supply given out by the plant,
(1) do mushroom need air to survive?
(2) what do mushroom uses air for?
(3) if mushroom does not respire the same way as plant ie gives out oxygen, how can it remain alive after five days?
Asked my girl these questions. For this, she also said 1. She said plants consume oxygen and give out carbon dioxide in the day and go through photosnythesis in the night, so in a way, the plant in the glass tank is able to exchange the types of gas it needs for days. As for mushrooms, she thinks they need both oxygen and carbon dioxide concurrently, and by placing the tank near window, they would not grow well under heat and direct sunlight.

Q2
http://postimage.org/image/2ylm4rx1g/
Child's (and my eventual) Answer: 3; Answer Key (and Husband's and my first answer) : 1
Child's Reason: Mushroom is not a plant, so Ans 1 is wrong.
Please confirm if we are on the right track.
She said 3 too. Mushrooms are fungi, not plant, and birdnest ferns are non-flowering plants.

Is the following statement about bread mould true or not?

It will die when the air around becomes warm.

Thanks

I think is false. Because mould need moist and warm to growth.
Temperature
Mold grows well in temperatures similar to those maintained in most homes. However, mold proves quite versatile as well, growing even on refrigerated food products and in tropical environments.

Temperature
Optimal mold growth occurs in warm temperatures, since enzymes, or the proteins that control chemical processes, work more efficiently when it is warm rather than when it is cold. The ideal temperature for molds to grow and survive in is approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit, according to Shepherd.

According to Dr. Kristy Long, a food sciences and home economics specialist from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, refrigerating breads will slow mold growth, and freezing breads will stop mold from growing all together.
