Just heard that there will be more n more problem sum for Maths (DS in P2 for 2011) n MPM will not be suitable. Was told to go for Just Education.
DS started Jelic and follow with MPM.
Like to hv some feedback. -
Hi ,
I’m interested to my K2 boy to MPM class as well. Anyone has comment on the MPM branch at bukit Gombak? -
I’m interested in the Montessori Maths program. How do I noe if it’s a true Montessori program & not juz a word added to it so that the ctr can charge exorbitant price for it?

In my boy CC, they were taught the traditional abacus. Recognising the number beads, doing multiple addition and subtraction. -

They must have the full range of Montessori Math materials.
Also ask to see how they support the concrete (hands-on) teaching
with the actual written form ie. abstract.. (worksheets or booklets) etc..
Preferably not exceeding 6 students as Montessori Math does take up
space (for material layout and all that) and also requires more time to
teach children how to work with the materials.
Same age group or within 1yr plus minus range.. eg. no tots together
with 5 & 6 yr olds.. Mixed age group i find only works for daily Montessori
few hours programme and not in short 1 or 2 hours enrichment kinds. Hope
this helps somewhat.

It was an eye opener for me wen i read your posts in e Montessori thread. I like the concept but unfortunately i dun have the logistics to enrol DD2 (4 y.o.) in e daily Montessori prog. She's currently in a daily cc which is close to my hse.
I like e concept of learning fr concrete object to abstract. I believe understanding fr e v basic is v imp. I dun like rote drilling as it does not build understanding. I dun like memorising formulas to become human calculator too. So Kumon & CMA is out.
However IM not too sure if once a wk enrichment in Montessori Math is gd enough. e ctr nearest to me is CS Montessori. Fr e Montessori thread i have read, e comments r for daily prog not e weekly enrichm, tats y I wan to find out more. But CS is mix age grp (3.5-6y.o)for weekly enrichm too. Fr yur comments, it may not b suitable for my DD2 leh. Looks like I may need to shop ard agn. sigh. logistics is still an issue for me.
Thks anyway. I was tinking u could b e one ans my query. Hee....& I was rite.
