I am also a Mac user. I use the Mac in my office when most of them uses windows. It works well with the company network and email. Mac is certainly better than windows.

She was probably upset with you sending a copy of the letter to MOE.

I have no idea if she knew of it, because I sent both emails seperately.
However, the HOD replied me, albeit delayed, with the following response:

My apologies for my delayed response to your email.
I believe Mrs Jaya has called to clarify the matter with you yesterday.

I would also like to thank you for raising the issue. Your feedback is very helpful to us to improve on what we do in the classroom with our students.

I will be happy to hear from you if you should require further clarification.

        Hi Blitz, hv PMed you.

          headache1969:
This is what I understand from MSHS, schools these days are not really into teaching children how to use excel or word. What the school want to teach the children is media, creativity, design, modelling, cartoon design, collaboration etc. These apps are stable in the Mac world. The cost of maintenance for the school is also lower if students are using Mac instead of Windows.

Personally, I was a window user than I switched to Mac 10 years ago. Mac is without doubt alot more stable than windows
          > no need worry about virus
          > no crashes or blue screen
          > All the MS office apps works in Mac but Mac iworks dun work in windows 🙂
          > A 10 yr old macbook is still very workable and updated apps still can run on it. Unlike window, every 3-4 years must upgrade hardware.
no doubt the mac is easier to use and the apps are more stable. This is because it's a monopoly, Apple produces everything themselves, hardware and OS wise.
In the Windows world, there is hardware fragmentation, different vendors produces different parts of the computer, ie. motherboard, graphics card, etc... and it all comes together, sometimes not so successfully.
It's not as bad as it seems or else the corporate world would be up in arms against Microsoft. Despite the Mac's stability, it has yet to make in roads in the corporate world.

The up side is that a Windows computer is a lot cheaper than a similarly priced Mac, if you get a no name brand, that is. All components are under warranty and the vendor should be able to provide support should anything goes wrong during the warranty period.

If cost is no object, then go for the Mac. It's just that in a school environment, a cost no object rationality is not healthy. Unless, of course, the Macs are donated or heavily subsidised.

I just wanted to point out that the computer is just a tool. From reports, it seems that schools using Macs are getting better results. A student using a Windows PC can be just as good as a student using a MAC, if that student is as dedicated as the one on the MAC. There is a perception that using a MAC in the school's curriculum \"magically\" produces outstanding results.

As far as I'm concerned, outstanding results is the product of a dedicated teacher and an interested student. Tools help, but is not the determining factor.

              Sec 2 parents,

Just finished memorizing 60 成语 for CT, now another 100 for SA1!! Really going bonkers! And the 60 词语 are really tough. So many words I can’t read too! But I’m glad the boys get to study for the exam and earn the marks with hard work, as compared to last year, which was mainly 课外。加油!
