i haven got my oven.. sad.. anyone has recipe for steam cake?

I also dun hv oven. I'd tried using rice cooker but not very successful yet. Can eat but texture is rough which likely due to the eggs not beaten well. Will try again soon. ๐Ÿ˜„

u all can try using microwave,
only takes 2 -3 min (slightly mroe for a normal cake size) to \"cook\" a small cake....

i used the same recipe for normal cake, results turned out GOOD, ๐Ÿ˜„
taste the same, except no browning effect. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was actually planning the cookery lessons for my centre and was trying to come up with more recipes that require little preparation and cooking time, use simple equipments and is easy enough for kids to manage.

The question someone posted about steaming cake got me trying out this recipe. It is quite simple and the interesting thing is it uses 7-up. Taste wise, this batch tasted kinda eggy. Maybe cos I used fresh pandan leaves from my garden rather then pandan extract.

            http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m560/cylsfun/c03f597d.jpg\">http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m560/cylsfun/edfbbd23.jpg\">

            Steamed 7-up Pandan Cake

            Ingredients:

            4 large eggs
            2/3 cup sugar
            1 tsp. Pandan extract
            1 1/2 cup self-raising flour, sifted
            50ml 7-up or Sprite

            Method:

            1. In a large bowl, beat eggs with an electric mixer until light and frothy. Add in sugar and continue to beat until thick and creamy, when you lift the beater and write an 8, it will stay there for few seconds. Add in Pandan extract and beat to mix well.

            2. Use a spatula and fold in flour lightly in 3 batches (in one direction), lastly add in 7-up and mix well.

            3. Scoop batter into individually paper lined silicon cups and steam on high heat for 15 minutes.

Well at the end of this whole experiment, I will say, I found a potential recipe for the kids to try out.

Interesting cakes, Funz and Eatnonstop. The only steamed cake I've tried is the traditional steamed egg cake. No 7-up in that recipe. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for sharing the steamed cake recipes, Funz and EatNonStop. They look really good.

I forgot to mention that mine is an electric steamer, Kenwood brand. I just checked the instruction booklet and there is nothing on steaming cakes, only vege, meat, rice and poaching of eggs, each rep by an icon followed by approx time.

Would you be able to advise me as to how long would I need to steam these cakes if I use the Kenwood??

Funz, what is the purpose of adding 7-UP? This is really something new to me.

Yup lkvm, cake can be \"cooked\" in microwave,
a very quick way of making a cake.
u can get a cake done in 15 minutes or less, inclusive the preparation time. ๐Ÿ˜„
it'll look like what Funz had posted.
