      Xan:
My boys (2.5yo and 4.5yo) are having cough since 2 weeks ago. Funny thing is they onli cough at abt 5am-6am plus in the morning. And according to the GP, she said it's the phlegm that back flows. 😞

is quite common for kids who have cough to cough more or cough only when they are in a cold/cool environment.
at 5-6 a.m , the weather is cooler, which could trigger the cough.
i experienced that with my gal when she was young.

try to put on warm clothes and wear socks for them, esp if they sleep in air-con rooms.

u can try it out and see whether their cough improve, hope it helps..... πŸ˜„

        Hi Augmum,

Thanks for ur prompt reply. Yes I do wear socks for them as we're sleeping in an air con room. For my older boy, PD said that he's got sensitive airways therefore, coughing frequently. Prescribed my boy with Singulair and Zyrtec -> to be taken for 3 mths. Frankly I dun quite like the idea of taking medi for that long period of time. So now, am looking for alternatives to help him with his cough, and came across this thread.

In fact, What worries me most is, if the cough drags for too long, it might lead to asthma 😞

Am tempted to let them try the Manuka Honey UMF 20+ (Which I've bought) but thought maybe can heed some advise from mummies here to see if it's too strong for my boys and if it will help to clear the phlegm πŸ™‚

            hi Xan,
don't mentio. i juz happened to see it yesterday when it appears on the front page.

Oh..so u already wearing socks for them.
have u try out not to sleep in air-con room for a short term?
I tried it for my gal, her cough def gotten better.S

i found that Singulair is not that fastastic as what most docs claimed to be
            and yet it is costly.

Ya, long cough can lead to asthma
but I dun give honey, even manuka honey to my gal when she has cough with phlegm.
The feedback fr her thru observation is that
it actually worsens her cough and produces more phlegm.

Of course, it depends on individuality, some of them may get the benefits of feeding with manuka honey.
U can try it out and get feedback from yr kids.

If not, try some herbal Chinese medicine.

actually for treatment of cough for children, it's all abt trial and error,
to see which medicine/method works best for them. πŸ˜‰

all the best to yr kids....... πŸ˜„

nah havent tried.. wats the price range?

Around $50 for 1kg manuka 5. The price goes higher for 10,15,20,25,etc. They have full range including propolis. Taste quite nice too. But idunno the effectiveness.

Hi,all. I just went to Guardian Pharmacy. If you are a Passion Card member, you can buy Guardian house brand of Manuka Honey MGO 100 at only $20.95 (usual $29.95). The cashier did’nt know when the promtion will end.

My family has been taking eucalyptus honey with royal jelly and propolis for years. It is from Australia and so without UMF rating. My dh who has sensitive nose swears by it. My children do come down less often with coughs and running nose after they take it on a daily basis. We have tried a bottle of Manuka honey (can’t remember brand) years ago and found that the texture was not as smooth as the current one we are taking. Hence, we stick to our usual honey and never tried another bottle of manuka honey.
