My Indonesia maid working for me for 1 mth. Her housework is good but no good in cooking. My previous maid teach her for 3 wks yet she still not sure how to cook when my previous maid went back. I am very angry thought of sending her back.

It's not easy to find a maid who's good at everything. If she's good at housekeeping, laundry and has good attitude, then cut her some slack for cooking. Maybe over time she'll improve?

My Household is in the Same Boat.
My Previous Maid teach Her for More than a Week before she Left.
And I Take Over and Teach Her for More than A MONTH.

Improve Marginally, But Now (3 mths with Us ONLY) She Reverted to ALL the FIRST Mistakes she has Made ....

ALL the FOOD She Cooked is Practically Left Untouched Now ....
My Two Teenage Boys, Both R Very Chin-Chye with Food, has Resorted to Take their Meals either in Sch or At the Nearby Hawker Centre ....

That is indeed a dream job for the maid. Can go jalan everyday because must walk the dogs. And dogs cannot complain.

Exactly like what we were discussing on the other thread.... and when go down no need to come up faster also can chit chat as much as they want

And if the employer asks why they take so long, just say the dog took forever to poo.[/quote]jtoh U SO Funnie ....

Actually very true. I see my neighbour’s maid, spending half her time downstairs…since baby 6 months till now ~2 yo…

Basically, they go down, chat and chat. Everyday, 5 or 6 or them gather (all with babies in same age group)…from sitting around to now setting up picnic mats and eating together downstairs. So the toddlers are running around most of the time… Can’t help feeling angry, but cannot interfere cos’ if the educated and healthy grandfather didn’t bother, I better not.

My ex-helper also same same, would often pretend dun understand or forget so that they dun have to do. Actually many of them are quite smart these days cos’ they have already learn tips from ex-maids before coming over. So we need to stay alert.

So if possible, don't hire maid. My colleague's maid even worse. The maid was caught for having sex with her neighbour's son recently.

but, now, u all think should i deduct her money for my lost dress? she is going back in august le. finish contract.

Just take the money since she is ok with it. Need to exercise your threat since you've already said it, like with kids, so that she will learn her lesson. U can return her the money when she is leaving in Aug, if u feel that she deserves to hv her money back as she has done good in her last few months with u.
But frankly speaking, based on what you've written, I think your maid is not afraid to lose money through her carelessness with your things, as she can even suggest that u deduct her salary. So this method of teaching her a lesson may not work for her.

Agree with bzmum, maybe tell your maid you would deduct from her salary for this error but if she don't repeat again, then you would consider returning back to her in August so turning the 'stick' into a 'carrot' for doing it right ?

i think the best way to handle this situation is like what you all have suggested, tell her i will deduct, jst to teach her a lesson… then wont take her money away !
