          Hi All,

I am a newbie here as well as a newbie mom.
          Rap is 7 months old and we plan to enrol him next year;
either Jan 2012 (15 months?) or 18months in April.

          (1) Went to LSH @ Fidelio. Found it quite nice…have not looked at others…

We stay at Opera Estate, so schoolhouses in our estate would be Pats,
          Kinderland @ Lakme…

Any help or suggestions GREATLY appreciated.

My girl has been with first skool toa payoh ifc for 17months, just like to feed back her months of stay in the school. She join at 3.5 months old, and the biggest issue is she keep falling sick, almost once to twice a month. Sometimes also i feel is due to jabs that make her fall sick easier, as well as teething which drops her immunity. So one big consideration for parents to send your child to IFC is to prepare that falling sick will be so common.

The school principal is a nice lady, the only thing that I am sometimes annoyed with, is she like to refer to MCYS. If there is any issues, sometimes she will say its a MCYS policy or whatever, which make me feel she is not the principal for the school, but rather working MCYS.

Shortage of IFC teachers is also an issue, could be due to the salary is lower compare to those expensive IFC. Thank god at least 50% of the IFC teachers are good and nice, especially the most senior teacher there. I bring my own porridge for 1 year as im not comfortable with them using frozen sutchi fillets for their fish porridge. This fish is in the catfish family, and i just feel that for such young baby, should take better fish. Of cos this issue, the principal say its approve by MCYS and HPB.

Just like government agency, its under NTUC, so alot of things they do goes by paper/MCYS. Not like private school where the principal decide how the school runs by what she think is the best. The fees is affordable, one of the cheaper range so i guess we cannot expect much.

If there is better IFC in toa payoh, i might consider them for my no 2. But for now, limited choice in tpy, i tink first skool is acceptable. At least some teachers are really nice.

Hi! Im new to this forum. M a regular in another mummy forum till i chance upon kiasuaparents.

I wld like to recommand my kiddo’s sch for parents hunting for centres in amk area. Lil one has been with them since 2mths old when i had to go back to work. Didnt do any research back then cos i was a new mummy. The teachers who frequent my mum rojak stall offer a tour in the sch, went n fall in love with the place!
The infant class is very home-like environment. My fav wld b the area when walls n floor were cushioned, meant for the babies to train their gross motor skills. Flipping rolling crawling climbing etc. U will b assured that yr child dont get ‘dumped’ in walker or cot the whole day doing nth. They have routine set for daily activities like exercising, reading, playing etc. Being exposed to words at young age, my boy started his first word at 6 mths, able to speak in 4-5 words sentence at 18mths, n now at 23mths, ive lost cout of the number of songs he can sing.
The teachers will also help the kids to achieve their milestone, of cos, when they show signs of readiness. Lil one flipped a week before 4mths n started walking at one. Ive seen how they encourage him when he was starting his first steps.
Food wise, im not really particular in this area. But im grateful that they helped when i brought frozen bm the first few mths. Stopped breastfeeding when lil one turned six mths. I think they use brown rice n wholemeal bread. U can chk out with the sch if u r really concern abt the food part. I know they have different menu like daily or weekly or sth like that.
Seeing the bond my boy has with the teachers, i believe they have that lil extra thing for the kids, love. I send a happy baby there n get a happy baby back. Teachers never fails to update me on lil one’s progress, n many times gave me great advise. Recently when my boy was going through the terrible two stage, his form teachers even took time to discuss with me on how we can help him pass through this stage better. N two weeks was all it takes for my boy to learn how to communicate his wants n throwing tantrums does not help at all.

In overall, im really grateful to the staffs n principal of the sch. Just fel that a gd sch like this deserve my feedback. Though up till today i still dont understand why such a great sch isnt as wellknown as others.

del-care infantcare…i checked it out but decided not to coz i felt place a bit small. for mummies working at raffles place, other infantcare options are cherie hearts (cecil street), new one (cant rem name) opened at international factor building, and citykids at china square central.

Hello all.. speaking of IFC, i give my 2 thumbs up for PCF Sparkletots at Hong Kah North Blk 345.. my bb is there and the teachers are doing a good job in teaching her and helping her during her care in the IFC.. sometimes.. i will spot check or ask to bring my bb home a lot earlier than scheduled to see if the teachers really follow time table or just anyhow scribble on the reports..

They make me feel at ease... now, my bb is 15 mths, and she alr learn to spoon feed herself.. im quite impressed by the teachers.. 🙂 but for the playgroup and above.. hmmm.... i need to monitor further...
