cct:
btw cct, are you a parent too? we have a list on p1 of this thread. can add you there. which class is your dd/ ds in?
Sorry, tell me your son's class before I tell you more.[/quote]
It's ok if you don't wish to list the specific class here, you can PM me.
I also PM others. Like LKVM, ExpatMom and Champion know my son's class, but I don't wish to publicise it here because like I explained to you in the PM, I have received weird anonymous PMs from others before, so I am \"once bitten twice shy\".
But I think listing the level should be fine. So if you are a parent, just let us know which level(s) your kid(s) is/ are in, and we can add you on the 1st page.

Like I said in the PM, how come he shared with you and not with me!!!

unfair? write to him then! -

joking la... no need to write, take too much effort.
this morn i went to the swim pool to observe the swim classes. it's the new SwimSafer course.
i thought it would be very messy and chaotic with so many classes at the pool but i noticed each class was split into small groups. ds1's group had only about 7 kids. i put him under \"beginners\" so i guess his grp would be beginners.
each small grp had 1 tr or parent volunteer assigned to them and they watched while the swim coaches taught.
this is the 2nd lesson. there are 10 lessons in all -- 1 term. 1.5hrs per lesson, but incl travel and showering time, it lasts from 8am to 10.30am.
i like ds1's coach. he was very funny and friendly. saw him doing shark action and making the kids laugh. thankfully these 2 weeks weather has been good! quite a no. of parents/ grandparents and even helpers were there watching, so i am not the only one! haha... everyone seems curious enough to pay the admission just to watch the kids.
if not for bb, i'd have signed up as a volunteer too! looks so fun to me. some of the kids are so cute too.

DD1 brought back the form on Tuesday and I filled up the form, make copies of those necessary documents, stapled them to the form and gave to DD1 to submit to FT on Wednesday :D.. Haha....at least one task out of mind lioa cos now more stress up with the coming SA1....Oral starts next week (pretty earlier, right)?DS got the application for Phase 1 yesterday... wah time flies... its almost time for P1 registration time again...
So what are you kabby and Champion doing? -
Champion:
wah, you are very efficient!

i haven't submitted yet. still sitting on it.
i was thinking, cos phase 2c will still have space left, so i may wait for the news on the new Pr sch before I reg? i tried to ask and find out more and they said there would be fliers and announcement to the public soon.
i know it doesn't affect both of you cos you don't live beside the new sch. i wouldn't hesitate too, if it were further, but the nearer distance is making me consider it.
don't know if this makes me not very loyal. oops! :? -
LKVM:
Now is only Term 2, week 3 but the schedule for the SA1 already out:-
I also feel SA1 is very early I thought they just started their classes after term1
1) Term 2, week 4 - EL & CL Oral
2) Term 2, week 6 - EL & CL Listening Compre
3) Term 2 , week 7 (5/5 & 6/5) - El & CL Paper 1 (Compo)
4) Term 2 week 8 - starts of main papers
Good that they clear the oral and listening Compre earlier so that students can concentrate on the Compo and main papers....So the subject teachers are all \"rushing\" to cover all topics by week 6 so that week 7 can start revision. Very stressful and tiring - have to pump up my energy level to do home revision with my DD1 lioa...

Taken from thesundaytimes, April 10, 2011 , Page 8
The article caught my eye immediately when I picked up the paper to read this morning. The writer has a son who will be due for P1 registration in year 2013 and she shares her views on why she thinks neighbourhood school will be her choice for her dear son :ugogirl:
To quote what she writes,\" To get into a popular school such as Henry Park or Nanyang Primary, we would have to either live nearby, which we don't, or start doing volunteer work. While the thought of joining hordes of parents doing volunteer work to get their children into well-known school has crossed my mind, I didn't entertain it for long because I'd rather spend any time outside of work with my kids.\" WELL SAID!! :snuggles:
Frankly speaking, I see myself reflected in the writer's shoe, though I may not have the thought of sending my kids to \"popular branded\" school but the idea of doing volunteer work did cross my mind  ....especially at the point 3 years ago, DD1 failed to ballot into WGPS
..At that time, I kept blaming myself why didn't I make the effort to do PV so that DD1 will have the chance of earlier registering...Then this thought came again when DD2 was ard 4.5~5 years old and I struggled with this idea again :stupid: ....But somehow through my own faith in my religion, I
about it and drop the whole idea
..I feel the peace and relief (don't need to set aside leave to go for PV and worrying boss not happy about it)
Sorry folks, this is just my little sharing here - maybe a bit :offtopic: but hope you all don't mind my long-windedness here
-
LKVM:
Yes, agrees this issue on PV thing is quite debatable ...at least now that I have settled DD2 P1 registration so my mind can be off the PV thing lioa :D...DS only coming 2 years old this year so it will be another 4-5 years time that I need to do another registration again...Heee...... :offtopic: - but am looking around for a playgroup for him; any suggestion?
This PV thing is quite debatable... I also feel it shouldnt be there but then school need parents to get involved in their activities and parents need to be attached to the school so that they can be relaxed to know how the teachers and school is for their kids

LKVM:
heehee i sent in the form already, finally. today.
dont worry you are trying to be practicle... just wait for the news of the new school then decide... i returned the form saying Nokabalevsky:
