      Vevey:

U would hv to hv the final say but u can give him choices or let him decide on non-essentials like the cartoons to watch (not just on e tv & watch whatever is there); sequence of activities (bathe, play or read 1st?) etc. When he is involved, he will b more committed. 😄
Oic.. haha.. like that got to allow him to watch a few selected shows.. he likes all cartoon.. guess i'm gona hav a hard time in selecting or he will hav a hard time in deciding which one he wants to watch.. 😢

Selective TV watching will make him values the precious tv time more & allows u to motivate him to meet the start time by completing previous activities (look at how kan cheong my DS2 is after sch! ) or even withdraw it as a punishment. 😉

DS1 is in pm session for P1 & 2 but he is quite auto on most days so just a rough sketch here:

8am: Wash up, breakfast, play w brother.
              9am : Practice piano
              9.45am: Homework/Revision or play/read if v free/Piano lesson on Mon.
              11am : Lunch & bathe
              11.45am: Goes to sch
              7pm: Dinner & bath
8pm: Play w brother/ Help to fold clothes / Do homework only if the load is too much for tomorrow./ Wushu on Fri.
              9pm: zz

No tv on weekdays, as it seems to make him hyper.

Been having a timetable since my child is born. Timetable changes every few months as when older need less sleep…

Right now the timetable is scheduled on what time to eat meals, what time to sleep. But not strictly followed as sometime if child is hungry will feed earlier.

Wow, your kid can practice piano for 45min? I really envy you :udawoman: My DS only practice for 10mins and start to play silly tune or noise... :x

Btw, do you try to make him do some assessment during the revision/homework session?

It's not me who is :udawoman: but DS who is :udaman: since it's him who is doing all the practices.
Which grade is ur DS' piano now?

When DS 1st started w Yamaha JMC, he also only needed to practise 5-10min & slowly built up to 30min over those 2yrs. Now that his private lesson is more challenging, there r times he would even hv to practise >1hr to familiarise new pieces.

I don't buy assessment bk so it's just sch's homework & preparation for tingxie/spelling/show & tell etc. I only guide his revision when there is a bite-size sch assessment coming.

                      Dear mommies

I need some advice on setting timetable for my boy.

I am a FTWM and my boy who is in K2 attends full day child care. I normally coach him with his English (Peter & Jane series) and Chinese. He is currently attending Phonics class with Lcentral for their liftoff program. As this program is quite tough, I need to do reading and spelling with him.

As my job is quite busy, I only have 1 hour each day in the weekday to coach him. How do you think I should arrange my timetable, should I include 15 mins for English, 15 mins for Chinese and half hour on Maths (his Maths is quite bad now, cannot do addition and subtraction)? Or should I do Monday English, Tuesday Chinese, Wed Maths?

                      Thanks.

IMO if you do all 3 subjects with him on 1 day, he will definitely be confused. Bearing in mind that he is only 5.5 years old. I will normally spent no more than 45 mins a day on reading P&J and 4/5 chinese reading. I will leave Maths and art & crafts for weekends.
