I am wondering what school that is.Yerdua:
Hi all,
There will be a new primary school at
Jurong West Junction of Jurong West St 61 and 63
(Next to blocks 656B and 658C), near Pioneer MRT.
It will commence its operation on Jan 2012
for primary one pupils.
How do fellow parents feel abt a NEW primary school?
Will you send ur child there?
It is actually in my consideration bcos it is near to my home.
Hb likes the feel of new schools. Haha.[/quot
I'm considering too. Brand new facilities. I heard rumors that student from Jurong west primary will either split or move into this new School while they are renovation their own premises. I welcome the idea and hope both my girls will be in this very very near to home new school. -
Hi Marilyn_28,
Thanks!
I sure like the name 'Frontier Pri Sch', sounds more hip!
It will be good if MOE can start collect responses from interested parents for the other levels soon! -

This will be good news for me cos probability of opening other levels in 2012 will be higher! :celebrate: -
I heard from a friend about this. Any parents can comment?
Personally I’m quite shocked to hear this. If memorise cheng2 yu3 or vocabulary, it’s ok. But to memorise essays, that’s stiffling creativity development in the child. What will come out of this kind of education is a child who is superb in memorising, but lack creativity.
any one knows if shu qun does this? -

Dear all,kabalevsky:
I heard that they'd release more info to all parents at a soft launch later on, and they would let the community around here know abt it. I'd definitely go and attend to know more.
We let us know how it went
I am very keen to transfer DS to this new school due to the distance.
Pls keep me posted.
Thanks inadvance. -
Don’t be suprised that Boon Lay Garden primary school might closed down and I’m afraid that all the students will transfer to this new primary school eventually, I think it might happen 换汤不换药, this been happening many schools in Jurong area. Close down to make way for condo developement? Possible!

I can't comment on that, but I only know there are many many families with Pr sch going kids clustered densely around the areas near Jurong West Primary and West Grove Primary. That's why these 2 schools are over-subscribed by so much. Of course, the schools are not bad too.
But because so many kids can't get into the schools near their homes, they spill over to other Pr sch in the area that are not so full like Boon Lay Garden or Corporation or Juying.
The 2 new schools happen to be situated within the dense areas, one near Jurong West Pri and the other nearer West Grove to cater to all the kids there. If there are many transfers, then yes, might affect the total enrollment of the less full schools.
However, normally brand new schools prefer to focus on their P1s. They open up all 8-10 classes for P1 reg but for other levels, they usually limit. They may not take P5 or 6, maybe just up to P4. Of course the new 2 sch could be exceptions, I am just commenting based on past experience with most other new sch. -

I just received info on the new school, thought I’d type it out here. But I know it’s being distributed all around Jurong West, so many of you would be receiving it too. Just in case some missed out on it:
Soft Launch of Frontier Primary
30 June 2011
Thursday
7pm
The Frontier CC, Hall, 4th floor
GOH: Mr Cedric Foo, MP, Pioneer SMC
Frontier Primary, serving the community from 2012, reg begins 2011
"Strong Fundamentals, Future Learning"
I will type out only some details which I think parents might be concerned, not every single word in the brochure.
Some programmes the school will be having:
Aesthetic culture, PERI programmes (PAL, PAM), FTGP, SEL
Focus on Future Learning. Aims to develop niches in Aesthetics and Student Leadership.
There will be a Student-care center and an outdoor fitness playground in the school, indoor sports hall, outdoor running track, band room, dance studio, PAL room…
