Hi Champion,
Hi teh_oh,teh_oh:
Hi Janet and Champion,
I saw this today. Will go back tomorrow to see if I can amass 4 books to enjoy the offer. Probably going to get a Vocab book, a grammer book, one on math problem sums and need one more.
My dear hubby \"volunteered\" and went Popular Jurong Point yesterday on my behalf
..But he said the P3 Vocabulary was already out-of-stock so he got P3 Grammar, P4 Vocabulary, P3 Must know Maths Problem Sums and a P2 exam test papers package. I am taking the P3 Grammar book with me to read while taking the public transport; keeping the P4 Vocab for next year usage; the Maths Problem sum I will read thru after I finish with the P3 Grammar. For the Chinese, I am giving it away to a dear friend who is helping dear son prepares for the coming SA1
Didn't know that it was out of stock island-wide. :!: -

I am not too sure whether it was out of stock for other outlets but am sure IMM and JP already no stock
...Maybe you can call up those outlets nearer your home to find out.
and hope you can get hold of a copy

Just want to share that I find the EPH Quick Revision Grammar Guide by Janet Tan useful. I bought for both years - P5 & P6. Original px is around $2.70; for P6's, I got it at a steal for $0.85 during the Dec Pop Fest!
I like it cos it's a summary of the grammar rules - eg. I can zoom in to the portion on Direct & Indirect Speech when I did S&T revision with DS. -

I had a hard teaching my son 'direct/indirect speech' last year...he has managed to grasp a little this year but still tends to forget to change 'this' to 'that' for eg. Using Julie Choo's Effective Grammar to revise with him this year...this came free when I bought Longman Weekly Maths.
For S&T, he's managing ok but still very weak in vocab synonyms. -

The outlet near my place has stocks for P3...but I bought P4 (Grammar & Vocab) anyway. Don't think will touch these until June Holidays, so no point getting P3. Did get one P3 math problem sum book to work on the sem 2 stuff over June holidays. Got one P4 problem sum book too. Actually quite glad I got the P4 book because after going through briefly, now at least I am less shocked when I see questions posting in P3/4 Math threads as now I can safely ignore (for the time being!) those questions that I can identify to be P4's work.

Hi Janet,
I didn't get any compo writing book for daughter yet. For my son in P5, I bought Quick Reference to Creative Writing (P5/6) and Creative Writing by Leo Kee Chye...both by Success Publications.plum-cake:
:salute:
I will chk that later. Janet, can you tell me what are the books, you use to teach/buy for compo writing(for your dd)?
Hi cwc,
I am a compulsive buyer when I see good quality assessment books.
Can you recommend a good/userfriendly phrases book for CL compo?
Thanks. -

Do you find it useful?sleepy:

Popular. It was written by teachers from White Sands Pri.
I should have been KS last year and bought P1,2 & 6.
Master oral book
No time to go through it yet...prob 2night if time permits, as I need to coach daughter in her CL spelling.
Before I bought the Master Oral, I have 'A Guide To English Oral Skills (For Advanced Level)'. The explainations for Pic description is in paragraph form but son and I have to find the picture which paragraph is describing...for eg the family of 4 sitting in front of the drinks stall.
For Master Oral, the entire picture is 'broken' up into several pages and enlarged with descriptions below, so you know what is being mentioned. Hope my explaination is clear
[/quote]Hi Janet,
I know what you are trying to get at. I am thinking of getting Master Oral but they don't have P3 levels. Master Oral is 'superior' to 'A Guide to English Oral Skills' (For Intermediate Level) not only because description is broken up into segments, but also because the latter has some errors in description (eg model answers have stuff that is clearly not in the picture). -
