      NB:
same here, my DS refused to read. I guess I have to arrange a \"date\" with him to do it ASAP...haha

      Hi NB

Is not easy to get them to read and also not sure how many can be absorb.

I go by the short cut , work on MCQ directly and if there is any doubt then clarify.

Read the question vs the answer key when closer to the exam time.

Red the question vs the answer key when closer to the exam time.

When I ask my son to read, he tells me he knows...so I get him to do the practice paper to 'see if he really knows'...chances are when he reads, he thinks he knows but actually the info is not embedded.

          Hi Champion,

I know you have several Science assessment books already, but when there is 20% discount at Popular, do check out Science Explorer...considering getting P3/4 as I like the concept maps.
Looks like a portion of the $$$ govt giving will be spent on assessment books

          Hi Janet,
Thanks again for your  - Yes, I am waiting for the 20% discount coupon and will go get the Science Explorer 😄 .

Yea - Gar Men gives $$$ for us to contribute to Popular :rotflmao:....Told hubby,\" Please transfers the $$$ you get from Gar Men to my account please! Else I will send the Credit card bill to you for settlement!\"

Actually, I am thinking to make a trip to Big Bookshop Clementi. The other time I got my \"Visible Thinking 3A\" from there as that outlet was the 1st to have it from Marshall Canvendish before any of the Popular outlet :D. Maybe I am lucky to discover \"treasures\" 😉

          Hi Champion,
have you checked out Science Explorer?
If it is the one by 'ACE', I have briefly looked through it and felt that the misconception portion may be a bit heavy for P3 if their basics is not good. It is good for us parents to read though. I find that the printing quality is also lacking (i refer to the photos in black and white). Will scrutinised them again.

          Hi Janet,
Will there be a 20% popular voucher this June? I am refraining from buying any more because want to wait for the voucher. Looks like I may need to stock up on compos and oral reference books. Thinking of getting Fairfield science guide too.

Agree with you...time is so tight. Since son's Maths is weak, I allocated 2 days for revision. Science is done only on Saturday night...I shoot the whole chapter on 'Cycles' from Helen Lee's book for eg and he will get it done, then I'll mark it and explain where his mistakes are.

Thanks for sharing once again; appreciates much much :grphug:

DD1 is also weak in Maths - especially now into Division and is slowly grasping the concept ..Hoping and 🙏 that she masters the foundation strong so she will not have difficulties moving up the ladder 😉...

Still pushing her to do more reading and revision on Science - still writing answers based on \"English language\" standard rather than \"Science\" way 😢...Especially when there is a question like,\" States the similarity/difference between Animal A and Animal B.\" She will always use English term like \"Animal A jumps but Animal B crawls\". She will argue saying, \" Mummy, this is correct what! I use present tense and singular - why teacher marks me wrong?\" Alamah - I :faint: :faint:

            Hi Champion,
Division is an extension of Multiplication. Get your dd to familiarise with multiplication first. With that, division shouldn't be a problem.
For similiarities and differences questions, with more practises, your dd should be able to see how to answer them. I find questions with experiments set up asking for opinions and observations to be more tricky as the child may know and see what's going on, but when it is put into words, it somehow always fall short of the full answer.

              Hi Janet,
Same here! Hence these guide books became a 'clarification tool'(ie used only when in doubt) instead of something that the child reads to increase his knowledge.

                Hi teh_oh,
I have not checked out this one yet but will try to look out for it when I am in Popular (probably this Sat; as usual ). Thanks for the feedback and I will post here when I check it out there. Once again, appreciates much. :celebrate:

Once again - Kum Siah so much for your advice; appreciates much :celebrate:

yea, now I see DD1 very \"hardworking\" to memorise her time-table especially 8- time-table. She said Every Maths Lesson, Teacher will get them to answer multiplication question and if unable to get it right as to 罚站 😉
